About It’s Complicated

It's ComplicatedAfter their umpteenth breakup, Brad Sweeney and Jeff Hayden are living apart and starting over from scratch. The morning after a promising first date, they’re more optimistic than ever that they can make it work this time . . . until Jeff’s ex-wife and business partner calls to announce she’s pregnant with Jeff’s baby. Brad’s already competing with a demanding business for Jeff’s time. Now there’s a baby on the way, and worse, he’s afraid Jeff is still carrying a torch for the woman who’s carrying his child.

Jeff is desperately trying to keep his life together, but before he can even get his head around the news that he’s going to be a father, his ex announces that she wants to leave Tucker Springs. Now he either has to take over her role at the shop while ferrying the baby back and forth from Denver, or move the business—and himself—with her.

Brad and Jeff knew reconciliation wouldn’t be easy, but they’re rapidly running out of room for compromise. And sooner or later, something has to give.

It’s Complicated is now from Riptide Publishing.

Make sure to check out Heather C’s review of It’s Complicated to see what she thought of it!

Electric Candle by Elizabeth Noble: Excerpt (NSFW) + Giveaway

Electric Candle Bloggers Final-1_edited-1

An Excerpt from Electric Candle

by Elizabeth Noble

Once he had the door safely shut, Forge captured Blair’s mouth in another kiss, running his hands along Blair’s sides and murmuring, “I want you, all of you.” Nudging Blair’s head back, Forge dragged his tongue along Blair’s neck, over his jaw, and circled his ear until they were both panting.

“Your powers of seduction are—” Blair tugged at Forge’s shirt while he undid the buttons and pushed it open.

Forge smiled and nipped Blair’s neck. “I’ve had more practice.” He groaned when Blair’s tongue blazed a trail from his collarbone to his navel and back up.

“I have a surprise for you.” Blair kicked his shoes off.

Lifting his eyebrows, Forge asked, “Does it involve the spreader bar, ’cause I’ve never—”

Blair barked out a laugh. “Maybe next time, but I heard what Boggs said about the rope.” Blair indicated the table Forge kept his keys on.

Forge turned and looked. There were several lengths of rope next to a larger amount coiled loosely in a pile. “Huh. I… you really are a kinky little bastard.”

Blair smiled. “Still not a problem?”

“No. No, not at all. Get moving.” Forge took Blair’s hand again and spun him around so he was firmly in Forge’s grasp. Then he walked them to the bedroom, stopping only long enough to grab the rope.

Forge laid Blair on the bed and took his time removing Blair’s clothes, running his hands and mouth along Blair’s body. He was assaulted by images from Blair’s past: his loneliness since being turned, bits of his life since childhood. The information was stored in the back of Forge’s mind to deal with later.

Blair stretched his arms over his head and moaned. Forge knew his eyes glazed over to a solid blue, the heat and hunger coiling up from his groin almost unbearable. Slowly, he wound the rope around Blair’s wrists, securing them to the headboard. He dipped his head now and again as he slipped his tongue over the tender inside of Blair’s arms, making him gasp. Tightening the last knot, Forge pulled his shirt over his head and straddled Blair. Curling forward, he ran his tongue across Blair’s lips, slipping his tongue between them. Blair groaned into their kiss, shoving his hips up against Forge. When Forge couldn’t tolerate the confines of his jeans any longer, he moved away only long enough to shed the rest of his clothing, then swung his leg over Blair’s pelvis again. Maneuvering so their cocks slid against one another, Forge jerked in a sharp breath from the sheer delight that shot through him. Blair must have felt it too; his back arched, kiss broken. He threw his head back, exhaling a loud, long groan, body shuddering.

Leaning down so his hands were on the bed to either side of Blair, Forge licked along the line of his pecs, rocking his hips to feel the smooth, velvet soft skin and delightful sensation of their cocks brushing together. Blair’s heels dug into the bedding, and he tried pushing his hips up, but Forge’s weight held him down, leaving him squirming and thrashing.

Forge nipped Blair’s ear, then just under it, following the small, light nips with his tongue. His fangs slid down, and he grazed a line along the length of Blair’s neck from his jaw to his collarbone. Blair trembled, writhing and gasping Forge’s name.

“You understand that by doing this, we’ll be bound forever. Never anyone else for either of us.” Forge spoke the words between kisses to Blair’s nipples. “Are you sure this is what you want?” He had to be certain Blair really understood.

Blair gave him a jerky nod and gasped, “Yes. God… I’m sure. I want it. Shut up, and fuck me.”

Forge pulled Blair’s nipple into his mouth, sucking and brushing over it with his tongue. He scraped the tightening skin of Blair’s pecs with his fangs, pinching at first, then applying gentle pressure. Blair squirmed and moaned desperate pleas for more.

About Electric Candle

Electric Candle by Elizabeth NoblThe Sleepless City: Book Two

When a vampire finds his soul mate, the bond is forever. It’s love at first sight. Or is it?

Flint, Ohio, Homicide Detective Jonas Forge has been a vampire for nearly two hundred years. He’s fought wars, seen life go from the simple but hard colonial days to the modern, high-tech world. He’s evolved with the times, adapting with each new era, blending into each new life. The one constant is his best friend and lover, Declan.

Until Forge’s soul mate tumbles, literally, into his life.

Even though they’re not fated to be together forever, Forge and Declan are perfectly happy. Despite the pheromone attracting him to his soul mate, Forge isn’t thrilled with the guy, and the feeling seems mutual. While trying to adjust to his clumsy soul mate and equally awkward feelings, Forge is on the hunt for the serial killer who’s leaving a trail of bodies, and who witnesses can’t identify. But Forge better watch out. When his work collides with his love life, things really heat up.

Honorary Blogger JB Sanders: Inspiration for Glen & Tyler + Giveaway

Nikyta: If you’ve been following along, you’ll have noticed that I’ve been catching up on my Glen & Tyler books. If you haven’t read them yet, well, shame on you because they’re a lot of fun and very fast-paced! In honor of the third book, Glen & Tyler’s Paris Double-Cross, coming out in audiobook soon, JB Sanders has stopped by today to talk a little about the boys and his inspiration towards them…

Honorary_Blogger_Post

Inspiration for Glen & Tyler

by JB Sanders

The inspiration for the Glen & Tyler stories comes in three parts.

The first part is in the form of a couple of guys I stumbled across on FaceBook, amateur hockey players, who had made their relationship status “married”. I suspect it was some kind of sophomoric stunt, or perhaps a prank on each other, but it gave me an idea for a story.

The second part has been a long time percolating. I’ve read a lot of gay literature, running the gamut from mainstream fiction to indie-published stuff, and an even larger amount of regular “straight”fiction. Time and time again, I read stories where the gay characters have a relationship that invariably ends in tragedy. I call this the Gay Doom, and at the point where I start writing the Glen & Tyler story, I nearly threw the book I was reading across the room. It had a prime example of the Gay Doom, made especially painful because the book itself was (otherwise) so well written, and the author had made characters that I really cared about.

Anyway, I rode that anger into a short story, which morphed into a book.

The third part is a little more upbeat than the other two. It has nothing particularly to do with gay or straight relationships. It has everything to do with married couples, and how so many books I read, in any genre you care to mention, have two main characters who dance around each other romantically, but never quite get there. We never see them in a long-term stable relationship solving crimes, saving the galactic empire, or stopping Doc Evil. Quick, how many married couples can you mention who have had their own TV show or movie (sitcoms don’t count)? Other than “Hart to Hart”, a show from the 80’s which helps me show my age, I’m pretty hard pressed to name even one.

So the third part is actually a big part of the Glen & Tyler books. They’re a happily married couple, going out there and having adventures. It really strikes me as odd that there isn’t more of that out there. I mean, the possibilities for comedy are huge!

About Glen & Tyler’s Paris Double-Cross

Glen & Tyler's Paris Double-cross (Glen & Tyler #3)

Glen and Tyler are young, in love, and the wealthiest human beings on the planet.  But when Glen’s brother calls from a jail in Paris, you guessed it, they’re off to France to tangle with spies, neo-Nazis, evil world-spanning conspiracies and French gangsters. Plus they have a romantic dinner, and find long-lost treasure. Really, it’s a fun-filled non-stop romp.

In this third installment of the Glen & Tyler series, we meet up with our heroes a couple of years after their Scottish Troubles, a little more world-weary, a little wiser and no less sarcastic.

About JB Sanders

JB SandersThe author lives with an imaginary cat, and works in computer support (you know, the day job), all in Upstate New York. He divides his time between writing humorous suspense novels, reading science fiction and urban fantasy, absorbing too much British TV (or as his roommate would say “those crappy BBC mysteries”), pondering why he didn’t write a scifi or fantasy novel, and his various hobbies. No, reading isn’t a hobby. It’s more like a vocation. The author also wonders how people get away with talking about themselves in the third person this way. It’s awkward. [cough]

A Blogger Girl Q&A with Susan Mac Nicol + Giveaway

Interview Banner

TBG: Hi, Susan! So great to have you on the blog! We just have a few questions for you to answer 🙂

Where did you come up with the idea for a Withinner and will we see more real time with Taliesin? He was one naughty, but HOT, sorcerer.

Susan: Oh Taliesin is quite a character, isn’t he? Rough, tough and sexy…and dangerous and we all know we love a bad boy  To be honest, I’ve always been intrigued with the idea of each one of us having an alter ego, a dark and a light side, two halves of the same person. So when I started thinking about this book, I conjured up this dark man living in another time as Quinn’s very own ‘magyckal’ presence. The ‘Withinner’ name was simply how I thought of him-Taliesin always lived within another person and hey presto, the term ‘Withinner’ was coined.

TBG: Does Taliesin have the ability to love and live a real life in his world? With his being at Quinn’s beck and call, I can see how that might be an issue. He seems to like to share Quinn’s men (past tense, of course) so I wonder about his own love life, separate from Quinn.

Susan: Absolutely. He’s a bit of a hound dog, bisexual too, especially when it comes to the Fey attraction. He is a distinct real person in his own time in the sixth century, in the time of Merlin and King Arthur, and has his own life. He lives in an isolated stone cottage on the wild Welsh coastline, close to a village, enough to go down to the local tavern and find a willing bar maid or man to ravage. He has an extremely protective nature towards Quinn, and as such, he wants to share in his life and especially in his sex life 

TBG: Was the phosphorescent in the water with Cade a water sprite in disguise? If so, will they make themselves known to him? And will Cade have the ability to change forms once he understands his fey powers?

Susan: Ahh, you’re making me give away all my secrets in Book 2. But yes, there are Sprites in the Hampstead Heath ponds. And yes, Cade gets to know them although not in a way you’d expect and that bit may make you shed a tear or two. Form changing isn’t something I’ve factored into Cade’s story as Sprites are essentially human form but with powerful abilities. But you’ll see how that all works out when you read book 2 *grins syly*

TBG: I understand that Quinn is worried about Cade and his unknown fey powers and what other’s will do, but in what universe does he believe that hiding all that from Cade will work out in his favor?

Susan: Quinn is a typical, arrogant Alpha male. He thinks what he does is just cause, and his love and fierce desire to protect the man he adores above all else tends to colour his judgement. He does mellow though in Book 2 but it’s one event above all others that causes him pain and grief that makes him realise he needs to let Cade develop and that he can no longer keep him in the dark.

TBG: Are there more than two books in this series, or is this it?

Susan: This is it -for now. I have a burning desire to write Taliesin’s story, something more historical and saga driven, so that is always something for me to consider. I have a friend who is a Bard and a Druid and he studied Taliesin in depth as part of his studies, so I know where to go to when I need the history and fact bit. I’d love to see Talisin find his true love, and yes, it will be a man.

TBG: Double Alchemy is a total 180, a complete departure from the first book I’d read of yours, Saving Alexander. Where do you come up with your ideas and influences?

Susan: I have this strange yen to keep writing out of the norm, to constantly challenge myself to see what happens. I don’t write for the market, I write what feels good and what I enjoy. So yes, the paranormal genre is, as you say, a complete turnaround from my usual. I have this fascination with the occult and witchcraft in particular (being a Wiccan myself) and with the story of Matthew Hopkins, Witchfinder General, on my doorstep here in the county of Essex, I thought I’d combine my love with the M/M genre with the paranormal.

TBG: Have you written any of genres besides gay romance?

Susan: I have written two previous books in my Starlight trilogy, which were M/F. Cassandra by Starlight and Together in Starlight were the first two books I ever wrote. I loved it, and Bennett and Cassie’s story was simply something that had to come out and be told. It was written based on my fixation with a young British actor called Benedict Cumberbatch. Then I found the M/M genre and fell completely in love and that’s where I am now.

TBG: What exciting things do we have to look forward to in future, can you share?

Susan: I’m writing a six book series called ‘Men in London’ which tells the different stories of various men coming together in a restaurant called Galileo’s in Soho. Each story is unique but the restaurant, and the first two characters in the series, Gideon and Eddie, will be a common thread in all. Each book will set up the characters for the next.

Gideon and Eddie’s book is called me ‘Love Me Senseless’. Gideon Kent is an award winning chef and owner of Galileo’s on his way to cooking stardom. Then a house fire and tragedy leave him with the inability to smell and taste. He’s a purist when it comes to his craft and decides he can no longer cook and create signature dishes. Now he simply manages the restaurant. Then along comes Eddie Tripp, another younger and up and coming chef star on the horizon, lauded for great things. Of course there is conflict, passion, envy and lust and one by one, both of these men’s defences fall.

TBG: Thanks so much for coming on The Blogger Girls!

About Double Alchemy

Double AlchemyPowerful yet tormented warlock Quinn Fairmont must initiate the silver-eyed Cade Mairston into the world of witchfinders, Withinners, and what can happen when two men fall truly, madly, deeply in love.

THE WORLD IN SHADOW

In modern London,, there lurks a warlock. Quinn Fairmont. Dangerous, powerful, tortured. Sharing his body with the soul of an ancient Welsh sorcerer, Quinn is never alone—and never wholly himself. He fights against all those who would exploit his kind. He also takes pleasure where he can find it.

In the forest of Hampstead Heath, Quinn’s hometown, Cade Mairston appears like a waking dream. Lithe, lean and silver-eyed, he evokes feelings in Quinn unlike any other: along with lust comes true affection, immediate and shocking. Cade is clearly more than he seems. And yet, though a man of the world, Cade knows nothing of warlocks, witchfinders or Withinners. He knows nothing of what he is, what he might be, what he might feel. For him, the story is just beginning, and magyck, peril and passion await.

Roped In Blog Tour: Marie Sexton Interviews L.A. Witt + Giveaway

Marie Sexton Interviews L.A. Witt

Hello, everybody. Marie and Lori here, talking about our upcoming release, Roped In, a hot little “opposites attract” novella about a rodeo roper and an animal rights activist. Today, I (Marie) decided to hold Lori down and force her to answer a few questions.

Marie: All the horse info in Roped In came from you (since I know nothing). Tell us about your experiences/history with horses.

Lori: I learned to ride around the same time I learned to walk. My very first horse show ribbon is dated a few months before my third birthday. Granted it was a leadline class (where my mom led the horse), but I’d been riding on my own before that point. I distinctly remember being annoyed that my mom had to lead the horse, actually, because I could handle him just fine on my own. My family raised Morgans for most of my life, and I had my own show horse from the time I was about twelve. So…you could say I’ve spent my fair share of time working with horses, which definitely helped pave the way for some of the scenes in Roped In

Marie: Our story features an animal rights activist who frequently protests at rodeos. Which side of that protest would you be on? Alternately, have you ever been tied up by an animal rights activist? Or would you rather do the tying?

Lori: While I’m totally on board with things like horse shows, I tend to agree with animal rights activists who oppose rodeos. I’m very much opposed to things like bronco and bull-riding because of how the animals are treated, and I’m not a big fan of roping events for the same reason. For the record, I am opposed to maltreatment of animals at horse shows. The things they do to Tennessee Walkers, for example, are appalling. I’m fine with showing horses as long as the animals are not mistreated.

As for tying or being tied, well, that depends on the animal rights activist. 😉

Marie: Name one irrational phobia you have.

Lori: Ladders. I discovered this particular phobia while I was thirty feet up on a ladder, so that was…unpleasant.

Marie: Where would you go for your next vacation if money and time were no issue?

Lori: Easter Island. I’ve been trying to go there for years, and just haven’t been able to make it happen yet. In the meantime, though, I’m rather enjoying making frequent trips to London. Normally, I’m not a fan of big cities, but I’m quite fond of that one.

Marie: If you could solve one historical mystery or unsolved crime, which would it be?

Lori: Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

And bringing things back to our book, Roped In: what was your favorite thing, either about the story itself, or about writing it?

Well, I’m never going to shy away from a story that lets me write about horses to a certain extent, because… horses. This one was especially cool because it was my first time co-writing with Marie, which was insanely fun!

There you have it! The things you undoubtedly most want to know about Lori. Keep following our blog tour to see what happens when Lori turns the tables on me.

And check out Roped In. ☺

Honorary Blogger KC Burn: Favorite Romantic Heroes + Giveaway!

Honorary_Blogger_Post

A zombie, a vampire, and an alien walk into a bar…

Who would you want to read about getting their heart ripped out (figuratively) and put back together with a happily ever after?

Zombies as romantic heroes… hmmm. I love zombies. I adore zombie movies (I was even an extra in a funky little movie called Enter, Zombie King). Generally, though, the zombies are villains and any heroic hotness belongs to the humans trying to survive. A zombie as romance hero might qualify for one of my absurd, yet insurmountable mental blocks. Because in my mind, zombies = rotting flesh and I’m pretty sure I know which parts are going to be immediately vulnerable.

That’s right. Noses.

Okay, you got me. I was thinking of other bits, but it’s not my fault! We’re talking romance and sex is often a big factor. Of course, that does give me an idea for a bittersweet tragedy about a zombie eunuch… I’m sure there are some good books with zombie heroes out there, so if you’ve read some, let me know!

On to vampires. I certainly get the dark, broody, angsty appeal of vampires. But sometimes I have a hang-up with vampires as the romantic hero. They’re dead, ergo – no heartbeat. No heartbeat means no blood flow to some very important places, unless you’re interested in platonic, erectile-ly challenged love affairs (and generally, I‘m not). Yet somehow, vampires have done the wild thing with just about every species of supernatural being out there. Maybe not zombies. Talk about clash of the failing body parts! But seriously, vampires have done everyone and everything. Despite all the issues, I do love me a good vampire hero, probably because they have such potential to be inhuman and evil, and yet they’re still damn sexy.

Aliens have their own host of issues as romantic heroes. First, they need to be appealing, sexually, to humans. The odds of that happening are astronomical – no pun intended! But even assuming you have mutual zing, the bits that are supposed to feel good when rubbed up against another… well, they have to match up to some degree. Hooks or spikes or claws of any description could be an issue, as could bodily fluids that are caustic or otherwise incompatible with human physiology. Aliens are tricky as romantic heroes. You can’t get away with the original Star Trek grease-paint aliens anymore. I like aliens though. The challenge of developing an appealing alien hero is tempting both as a romance author and a sci-fi geek.

So tell me, what is your favourite? And you don’t have to limit it to these three. Cowboys, cops, werewolves, mermen, demons, Navy SEALS… all are welcome. What’s the one type of hero that will get you looking twice at a book, or will get you to buy a book regardless of anything else about it? For me, if the hero is blind, well, I don’t usually even read the blurb – it’s an easy sale. I don’t even know why I like blind heroes, but I do and I want them to get their happily ever after.

Dirty Ross by Sandrine Gasq-Dion: Excerpt + Giveaway

Release - Promo Banner

An Excerpt from Dirty Ross (Assassin/Shifter #22)

by Sandrine Gasq-Dion

“Hello, Mount Everest. I’ve got my pickaxe and rope.”

Ross couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped him. Cole was back in full form. Ross turned slowly and eyed the man from head to toe. Jesus, Cole looked good enough to bang. His inner wolf was screaming mine, mine MINE! Shit, he really needed to get laid, and soon. Ross reeled in his wolf and relaxed against the bar, smiling.

“Conditions are grave on the peak tonight, my friend.”

“I’ve got my arctic tent, too.” Cole waggled his brows.

“What’ll ya have, Cole?” PJ asked.

“The man in front of me.” Cole licked his lips, giving Ross Collins a once over.

“Now, Cole, I’ve told you I don’t do ménages.” PJ pointed a finger at Cole.

Ross cracked up. “I’ll have a beer, PJ.”

“That’s good, PJ, because I don’t share.” Cole leaned in to Ross’ face. “What’s mine is mine.”

Oh hell. Ross leaned back a little, their eyes locked and his dick sat up and took notice. Cole oozed sexuality and alpha male. Hot damn

“Ross?”

Ross glanced over his shoulder. “Huh?”

“Your beer?” PJ grinned.

Ross took it and before he could pull his wallet out, Cole had paid for it.

“This one’s on me, Soldier.” Cole winked.

Ross held up the beer. “This is no way gives you a pass into my pants, Ryker.”

“Oh, I know. I’m going to go stock up on cold weather gear. Conditions are downright frosty tonight.” Cole shivered.

Ross cracked a smile. “Isn’t there some other guy you’d like to bend over tonight?”

Cole leaned in until he was a hairs breath from Ross’ lips. “I don’t devote this much time and energy to something that comes easily, Ross. As I said, I’m getting ready for a long hike up a steep slope.” Cole stepped back and grabbed his beer off the bar. “See you around, Collins.”

blogger_bee_transAbout Dirty Ross

Dirty Ross (Assassin/Shifter, #22)Book 22 in the Assassin/Shifter Series

Cole Ryker has been a man on a mission since the second he laid eyes on tall, dark and dirty-talking Ross Collins. That mission? To get the macho Delta Force soldier into his bed and out of his head, putting an end to his obsession. When Ross finally agrees to a date, Cole is overjoyed – and, frankly, rather surprised. Ross is like no man he’s ever met. When one date leads to another and another, the men struggle to sort out their feelings.

Ross Collins is in full command of everything in his life. When Cole Ryker hits on him – and keeps hitting on him – something in Ross is drawn to the confident firefighter and the uncertainty that comes with letting someone else take the lead. Time with Cole is intoxicating, unlike anything Ross could have imagined. He’s falling fast and Cole is right there with him.

But everyone has secrets, don’t they? Ross is hiding the fact that he’s a werewolf, and Cole is terrified his own past relationship will ruin any chance he has of finding happiness with Ross. There’s also the matter of a man from Ross’ past who’s pretty determined to stake his own claim on the soldier.

Truths explode as quickly and terrifying as a five-alarm fire, putting relationships in jeopardy and loved ones in danger. Is there an escape or will their love turn to ashes?
