The two of them are closer than peas in a pod and fiercely loyal to each other. He can’t imagine his life without Misha in it.

He lives a life of happy compartmentalization with no intention of ever changing.

All of this changes when the two best friends move in together.

Tread by A.G. Carothers: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from Tread

by A.G. Carothers

Thursdays had quickly become my favorite day of the week. I spent the rest of the week looking forward to today. Last week, Gavin had said something that got me thinking. It’d been many years since I’d given any thought to submitting to someone again. I hadn’t met anyone who’s presence brought that out in me. Gavin had made fun of me from time to time about how I assessed people, but I think me and Gavin’s new sub have that in common.

Everyone, whether they realize it or not, presents themselves in different but discernible ways. It’s in their posture and the energy they send out. It’s not foolproof by any means. Excellent liars and manipulators can change that about themselves, or people trained for espionage or that kind of thing. Still, your everyday person usually isn’t aware of how they project themselves.

Darius screamed nurturer, Daddy Dom, and maybe a little Service Dom. There’s a part of me that yearned for that connection and wanted to be taken care of.  But I had given up on that notion ages ago because who would want to put up with my routines and compulsions? I stopped training service subs a few years ago because most couldn’t handle my demands.

Darius was demanding in a stern-yet-not-assholish way that was super-hot. He was accepting—so far—of my ways and didn’t seem offended. Once he understood I needed to be the one to do things in a certain way, he let me do them without argument or scorn. That was rare in this age of impatience. He was observant and attentive. The way he catered to me could be perceived as submissive in some light, but the commanding way in which he did them crossed the action over that line. There was a difference in asking someone to do something for you and then having something done for you without you asking.

I liked that he didn’t ask.

I walked into the café at eight sharp and headed to my booth. I wiped everything down, took off my jacket, and put my stuff down then went to order. I ordered the same thing every Thursday. Once, in the beginning, when I made this my Thursday routine, the employee had tried to be helpful and preempt my order and had everything ready for me. It was kind of them, and I appreciated the attention to detail and forethought. I had explained to them I’d rather they wait until I made my order. What if I had wanted to be wild that day and have a blueberry muffin instead? It was more polite to wait than assume.

I taught that there was a fine line between knowing what your dominant wanted and assuming what your dominant wanted. It was also far more important to remember how something should be done when it was needed than trying to read minds.

I opened my laptop and logged into the HPD remote desktop. After the first month, Darius had made me my own log-in for his other network, which wasn’t attached to the public café one. I was pleased with his thoughtfulness. My case files were stored on the remote desktop, not my local machine, for security, so I appreciated the extra security layer. I had clicked on the case folder I was currently working on when I saw Darius approach in the corner of my eye. He normally didn’t bring my breakfast; it piqued my curiosity

The wide, almost excited, smile on his face demanded that I return it. I was happy to see him, so it was easy to do.

“Good morning, Abel.” Darius set the coffee and juice down and did something he’s never done before. He slid into the booth on the other side of the table.

“Good morning, Darius. How are you?”

“I’m doin vera well this fine mornin. An’ ye’self?” His accent thickened just enough for it to send tingles through my body.

“Fine,” I unexpectedly squeaked. I cleared my throat and tried again. “Fine. Just fine.” I smiled sheepishly, hoping the blush on my face wasn’t too bright.

“What are you doing tomorrow night?”

“Tomorrow is Friday night.”

“Yes.” He leaned on the table, putting his forearms on the edge. “What are you doing?”

“Cleaning the pantry and the refrigerator out, ordering Italian, and watching Kitchen Nightmares.” I ran down my short mental list.

“Kitchen Nightmares, huh?”

I nodded.

“After you clean out your pantry and refrigerator?”

I nodded again.

“Is that so you don’t feel shame about your own kitchen when Gordon is yelling at the restaurant owners about how filthy they are?”

Laughter barked out of me. “Yes. That’s it exactly.”

Teeth flashed at me, and I lowered my head.

“May I cook you Italian instead of you ordering it?”

I raised my head again and arched an eyebrow. What was he asking?

He continued, “I can make it at my place and bring it over, or if it’s okay with you, I can cook at your place.”

“You don’t want me to go over to your place?”

“No, I’d love for you to come to my place. I just didn’t want to interrupt your routine too much.”

“That’s…that’s very thoughtful of you. No one has done that before.” I was at a loss for words.

“So, is that a yes?” He beamed at me, not acknowledging my nervousness.

“Yes, I would like it very much if you came to my house and cooked for me.”

“Excellent. I’ll be back later, and you can give me your number.”

He seemed pleased as he scooted out and headed back to the busy counter. There was a sway to his step as the pleats of his kilt brushed back and forth across his toned thighs.

I immediately pulled out my phone and texted Gavin. I had no idea what to do. I hadn’t had a date in years, and the only person who’d been in my house since I stopped training was Gavin. I quickly typed out what had just happened. I put my phone down and took a deep breath.

The reality that Darius MacLeod was coming to my house and cooking me dinner sunk in. I picked up my phone again.

Me: Darius is coming over to my house tomorrow night and cooking dinner. My house is a disaster zone! There’s no way that it is fit for company!!!!!

I quickly logged out of everything, including my forgotten laptop, packed up, and rushed home.

Bishop: A True Lover’s Story by A.E. Via: Exclusive Excerpt!

Exclusive Excerpt from Bishop: A True Lover’s Story

by A.E Via.

“I’ve been lying here thinking how much I wanted to have dinner with you tonight, how much I want to take you out to dinner. I can’t cook, so I’m not even going to embarrass myself there.”

Edison laughed, settling more comfortably into his soft sheets. He swept his hand over the empty mattress beside him, anxious for the day that Bishop would be lying there with him and he hoped that day would come sooner rather than later. Bishop kept talking, his rough voice luring Edison into a warm sense of comfort and slow-burning stimulation.

“Tomorrow I’m going fishing with my dad, we tried last Sunday but it stormed. But, Monday after work, I wanted to come over so I can finish clearing out the weeds against the house where the flowerbed will be. The sooner I get some chemical applications down for weed control, the better. I’m already starting pretty late in the season. It’ll only take a couple hours to finish that.”

“Okay. I may have to work late on Monday. I have a meeting with a client at four, but you can let yourself in, I never lock the gate.”

“I’ll do that,” Bishop agreed.

There was a long pause while he listened to Bishop’s deep breaths and the periodic hitches in his voice. “What are you doing?” he asked.

“Just listening to you, Eddie.”

Edison shook when he ran his hand over his bare chest as Bishop’s words raised goosebumps over his body. “I like it when you call me that,” he said, his own voice sounding off. “I don’t let anyone else call me that.”

“Good.”

Edison hadn’t pleasured himself in a long time but he was positive he was going to tonight. There was no way he would be able to sleep. His dick was throbbing, and crowded awkwardly in his boxers. He wanted to let it out, but he knew he’d whimper the moment his hot flesh hit the cool air, so he just barely refrained. But, god, it hurt so bad.

“I’m gonna let you go because… I just… mmmm. Yeah. I’m gonna go.” Bishop’s voice sounded strained, and just as husky as his own. “I’ll talk to you soon, handsome.”

Bishop hung up quickly, not giving him a chance to respond but he believed he understood why. Edison tossed his cell onto the bed and the next second he had his shorts shoved down to his knees and his hand fisting his shaft. It was too embarrassing for him to think about how fast it happened as his back bowed off the bed and his come splattered his chest. Bishop’s name lingered on his parted lips, his head reeling at what he’d just done and how hard he’d come.

Random Facts about the Udynea Empire & the Kingdom of Tirglas

by Aldrea Alien

Hi, I’m Aldrea! I write fantasy romance in a variety of heat levels both within and without the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. My newest release, To Target the Heart, is an m/m romance and part of the spellster series which is largely set in the Known World, consisted of a single giant continent and a few outlying islands.

The story itself involves a pair of princes from two very different realms. Darshan vris Mhanek comes from the great glutton of the Udynea Empire that commands a great deal of the central continent, whereas Prince Hamish of the Mathan Clan is from the rustic, and largely rural, Kingdom of Tirglas. And there are a few differences in their lands that present a bit of a bump for both princes, leading to them learning to comprehend each other and avoid instigating a war between their lands.

Tirglas

  1. The royal family never leaves their clan lands. Not even when married as succession is handed down to the next eldest and then their children.
  2. There is only the Goddess. She is considered responsible for growth, procreation and harvest.
  3. Hunting down known ‘rutters’ (gay men) was abolished only half a century ago.
  4. Elves are rarely seen with the majority of those who stay having roots as refugees from the Udynea Empire.
  5. Marriage is considered legal for all manner of couples, but only binding if a child is born before the end of the second year.
  6. Everything is bigger in Tirglas, from the average height of the population to the size of their animals. Including the local bears.
  7. Those displaying magical talent are confined to cloisters kept far from the general populace. Their limited range of study means that a great deal of these spellsters are highly knowledgeable in the healing arts.

Udynea Empire

  1. As a whole, sexuality is considered a non-issue. With class and anti-elven prejudice being far more typical.
  2. Women are the last to inherit property or titles. Even if it’s an only daughter, all other direct male lines must be eliminated before anything can be passed to her.
  3. Deities are multiple and often overlap in duties. A product of their centuries of colonisation, which typically ended with lopping off the ruling masses and integrating the common people. Those who are worshipped throughout the empire are the High Mother and Araasi, Queen of all deities.
  4. Assassination attempts are commonplace, leading to the majority of the nobility being highly skilled in magical healing. Many choose to display their prowess by imbibing otherwise lethal doses of poison as party tricks.
  5. Slavery has been legal for thousands of years and, since the arrival of elves on the continent, a large percentage of the slave population is comprised of them. There is a hiercharchy with certain slaves of the royal family having the power to execute nobility.
  6. Spellster’s aren’t regulated and not only dominate the nobility, but the Udynea Empire holds the highest percentage of spellsters of all the realms. Magic is used freely and without fear of being prosecuted for being born with it.
  7. Due to completely conquering several ancient civilisations—such as the already crumbling Domian Empire—in the distant past they’ve the largest source of ancient knowledge and technology. But not always the means to replicate their finds.
