5 Things You Never Knew About Susan Mac Nicol

by Susan Mac Nicol

Now you’re asking me to tell you my deep, dark secrets….let me have a think about this one…. *gazes into space and grins*

Rightio then. Some of you who follow my blog may know this already, but if not, it’s quite a cute little story.

I was once picked up for being a prostitute. By a punter, thank God, not the police.  There I was minding my own business and this happened…. http://www.susanmacnicol.com/the-time-i-was-mistaken-for-a-prostitute-honestly/

I once dated a man, a red head with lovely green eyes and freckles. I definitely have a thing for red heads –gingers, auburn, carrot tops-I love them all. That’s why I created the character of Eddie in my new series, so I could showcase the much forgotten attributes of a red headed man. Said red headed boyfriend ended up in a psychiatric facility (not because of me though) but that’s a story for another day…

I have a murderer in my family tree. Now you might think this statement is a little blasé but I can assure you, it’s an attention getter. My mum’s cousin killed his wife (she was involved with some sort of cult) and then killed himself. It was an absolute tragedy and the story was well covered in the Yorkshire news but still, very tragic indeed. We still don’t know exactly what happened and probably never will.

My aunt Delia was once engaged to Cliff Richard. Yep, it’s completely true. She was a dancer in an old UK variety show called the Black and White Minstrels and she met Cliff when she was in the show. They were together quite a while and then he dumped her. Apparently his mother told him he had to concentrate on his career. She was devastated. I have a lovely picture of the together in a garden, looking really happy. And no, I’ve never met Sir Cliff … I wouldn’t mind though.

I have a bit of a phobia about what we in South Africa call ‘goggas’. (Pronounced with a real guttural feel and sounding like you’ve just hawked up a pile of spit.) These are what are commonly known as insects. I’m not fond of flying insects, like beetles and the like, as when I was younger, they used to get stuck in my really curly hair. (I was a Shirley temple lookalike when I was a kid). They would fidget about in my hair with their little scrawny legs and give me the shivers. Very icky.

Well, I hope that’s entertained you all a little and that you have a little bit more insight into the ‘me that is me’. Be warned though -I’ve kept all the really juicy bits for my memoirs….

An Excerpt from Love & Punishment

Anthony walked down the hall. He reached the bedroom and gently pushed the door open. He saw Flynn framed in the light of the lamp shining from the lounge. He lay, apparently asleep, on the leather and wood divan Anthony had brought over from Italy. Its dark burgundy colour contrasted with what Flynn wore, which was nothing but a black thong lying stark against his pale skin. The divan was under the window. The bed covers were rumpled, as if Flynn had been sleeping. His robe was draped across the foot of the bed. Anthony moved towards the gleaming body of his supine lover.

Flynn’s face was turned away towards the back of the sofa. His dark hair was tousled and his arms stretched above his head to the right. He wore a blindfold. Anthony felt a stir in his groin seeing those lean, hairy legs stretched out wantonly, inviting him to run his hands up and over his groin. Even appearing asleep, Flynn had the power to excite him, to make Anthony hard and ready. He stepped towards him, watching the rise and fall of Flynn’s chest with their already hardened nubs. Anthony wanted to run his tongue over that chest, with its smattering of fine hair, to take Flynn’s nipples in his mouth and suck them until Flynn groaned in pleasure. As he got closer in the dim light he saw the hands with their bonds of silk. Green bonds lay dark against Flynn’s wrists, fastened to the wooden struts of the upright chair arm. His hands were tight fists. Anthony chuckled softly, a noise that sounded loud in the stillness of the room.

“Been waiting long?’ he whispered as he took off his jacket. ‘I tried to get home as soon as I could.”

Anthony knew the bonds would be loose so Flynn could break free if needed but he also knew he wouldn’t. It was the way the game was played.

Blurb: “Rent boy rule number one: Never fall in love with a customer.”

Life as a rent boy is not a long-term career goal for Nathan, who’s determined to get an education. But when he turns up for his first day at college he’s horrified to find his English teacher is one of his regular customers: Stephen, the one Nathan dubbed The Voice for his educated, honeyed tones.

Stephen’s just as shocked to see Nathan sitting in his class, not to mention terrified he’s about to be exposed as having paid for sex with a student which would mean public humiliation and maybe the loss of his job. Yet it’s clear Nathan is only interested in getting his A Levels, not in blackmail. And Stephen realizes there’s more to the nineteen-year-old than meets the eye.

Nathan still has to earn a living, though, and when a customer turns ugly, he finds himself homeless and unable to work. Stephen steps in to help, and Nathan starts to think they could have a future together if Stephen’s guilt and lack of trust don’t end their back-to-front romance before it starts.

Honorary Blogger Chris T. Kat: A Different End + Giveaway!

Honorary_Blogger_Post

A Different End

by Chris T. Kat

Thanks very much to The Blogger Girls for having me back on their blog! Dreamspinner Press published my new release, Tidal Change, on September 17th. Tidal Change is a shape-shifter story but it also has fantasy/fairy tale elements because the main character, Marty, is a merman.

When I started writing—which seems like a really long time ago nowadays—I never cut whole scenes from my stories. Even when I knew certain scenes didn’t move the plot, or were basically fillers, I couldn’t cut them. Sure, I’d cut sentences, or even a paragraph here or there, but never as much as a page.

After going through the editing process several times, I understand better why some scenes just don’t do a thing for the story, but that doesn’t mean I’m more likely to cut whole scenes. Tidal Change had a whole different ending in the first manuscript version. Right until my two beta-readers, Julie Lynn Hayes and Tali Spencer, wondered why I chose to end the story like I did. Wouldn’t a different end make much more sense? Not giving away how I changed the actual story, but after much grumbling, I had to agree with my betas opinions. With a heavy heart, I re-wrote the end, though I kept the original part. Please read the deleted scene below if you’re interested.

Readers, have you read books where you wished the end would’ve been different? Authors, how often have you changed the end of your books?

About Tidal Change

Tidal Change by Chris T. Kat eBookSomething draws history teacher Rick Grady across the school hall to German teacher Marty Lindson. Maybe it’s their shared love of the ocean. Maybe it’s just that Marty is so hot, but maybe it’s something more—something mysterious. All Rick knows is that every time he gets close, Marty pulls away. After another cancelled date, Rick goes to Marty’s apartment to demand an explanation. And what Rick discovers blows his mind.

The ocean calls to Marty because he’s a merman. He’s been afraid to get close to Rick, not just to keep his world a secret, but because Rick is his mate. And to claim his mate would change everything about Marty. No matter how much he loves Rick, he doesn’t know if he’s ready to alter his entire life.

Deleted End Scene

Rick sipped his coffee, then patted Marty’s naked ass. “Come on, little fishy, either hop into the water or get back into your clothes. You don’t need to get sick.”

Shaking his head, Marty closed his eyes. He was still smiling when he re-opened them. Rick trailed his free hand along the shimmering scales on Marty’s tail. Marty moved into the touch, droning a contented hum. He lifted his head to receive another kiss from Rick, then pushed himself off the boulder and vanished into the dark sea.

Rick huddled deeper into his blanket while he sipped his coffee and watched Marty swim. Only a sliver of moonlight illuminated Marty’s nightly adventures, causing Rick to strain his eyes more than he liked.

Marty swam for a while, occasionally lobtailing his fluke hard on the water surface, the hard smacking noises echoing like explosions. Marty emitted trills and thrums, something Rick had become accustomed to, but this time it was different. At first he frowned, unsure why the hairs on the nape of his neck reared up.

Something answered Marty’s call—something much bigger. Rick’s heart skipped a few beats, when he discovered a huge fluke breaching the surface, very close to Marty. A whale.

Rick’s eyes widened. A huge whale surfaced next to Marty, who seemed tiny and fragile next to the large animal. The whale thumped his fin onto the surface, creating a huge wave that pressed Marty underneath the water. Rick jolted upright, his mug clattering onto the boulder and splintering into pieces. He scanned the sea for Marty while his heart thundered away.

Rick’s knees buckled in relief when Marty’s head appeared above the surface again. He expected Marty to swim back to him as fast as he could. He should have known Marty’s tendency to do things his own way would come to pass in this situation, but he still gasped when Marty leaped high into the air, his laughter carrying over to Rick.

Usually, Rick loved watching Marty jump, but the gigantic animal next to Marty tarnished his enjoyment into non-existence. He flapped his hands in the hope of drawing Marty’s attention. Either Marty didn’t see him, or he was ignoring Rick’s frenzied waving.

Rick tried again and again to catch Marty’s eye, but it didn’t help. He spent the next hour rooted to the spot, staring wide-eyed and dry-mouthed at the spectacle at sea. In a weak moment, he admitted to himself how fascinating it was to watch Marty and the whale, but mostly he feared for Marty’s safety and life. The huge animal could easily knock Marty out. What would happen in this case? Would Marty drown?

“Oh, you are so going to get a piece of my mind!” Rick muttered to himself.

After another half an hour, just about when Rick’s thighs began to cramp, Marty tired of playing with his new friend and swam toward Rick. The whale gave a short trill, then breached the water surface and threw himself backward, splashing water in huge waves. Rick jumped and almost lost his footing on the slippery boulder.

Marty jumped out of the sea, a dazzling smile on his face as he looked up at Rick. He exuded so much happiness and enthusiasm that Rick’s fear evaporated in an instant. He all but fell on his butt and pulled Marty’s dripping frame into in a crushing embrace.

Marty’s voice was muffled because he rambled into the folds of Rick’s blanket, “Wow! Did you see that? I was eye to eye with a blue whale! A real giant! I’ve never been that close to one of them before. Oh, maybe I’ll meet this one again! That would be fantastic, don’t you think?”

Marty’s excitement was almost contagious. Still, Rick couldn’t shake off the trepidation from the last couple of hours. Holding Marty’s naked body against his didn’t help him focus either. In a hoarse voice, Rick said, “If that… monster ever shows up again here, I’ll put you on a leash.”

Marty pulled away from Rick and tilted his head sideways, clearly puzzled by Rick’s choice of words. “Why? It was fun! Hey, you know what? Next time you could come with me. If you’re not comfortable in merman form, we could rent a boat for you.”

Rick shuddered. Clutching Marty’s shoulder, he replied in a voice that sounded incredibly calm and collected given the circumstances, “No thanks. Did it maybe cross your mind that playing with a whale could be dangerous?”

Marty laughed. “Dangerous? Are you kidding me?”

Rick couldn’t decide whether Marty was teasing him, or if he really didn’t see the potential danger he’d been in. Rick cupped Marty’s ass cheeks in his hands and grumbled, “That monster could have knocked you out.”

Marty wound his arms around Rick’s neck and whispered, “Were you worried? I’m sorry if you were, but I assure it wasn’t dangerous, just a really marvelous experience.”

“That’s not the kind of marvelous experience I like.”

Warm gray eyes observed him, and Rick loosened his grip on Marty’s shoulders. A moment later he disentangled himself from the blanket and lifted Marty to sit between his open thighs. Marty guided one of Rick’s hands to the front of his tail, shivering when Rick caressed it.

A low hum emerged from Marty’s throat. He had trouble forming words instead of , but at the third attempt Rick understood his question, “Do you want me?”

“Yes” Rick croaked.

Rick gasped when Marty’s nimble fingers opened his fly and freed his erection. His gasp turned into astonished wheezes when Marty shifted partially. From his knees downward, the tail remained, while the rest of his body shifted into his human form. Marty squirmed into the position he wanted, and Rick slid inside him.

Neither man said a word during their unique love-making. Marty’s fluke slapped onto the boulder rhythmically while Rick moved inside him. Needy thrums accompanied their tender act of love, sending rippling sensations through them both. It was like nothing Rick had ever experienced. Rick’s yell of pleasure echoed in the bay while Marty keened when they both tumbled over the edge.

Afterward, they stayed in a tight embrace for a long time, snuggled together under the blanket, watching the waves pile up and break in a steady, mesmerizing flow. Smiling, Rick listened to Marty quietly trilling, telling the world how he felt about them.

Can’t Wait to Meet Everyone at GRL!

by Deanna Wadsworth

Thank you so much, Blogger Girls for hosting me today!

My name is Deanna Wadsworth and I have been writing gay romance for six years. I have over a dozen titles to choose from, which range from erotic fairy tales to gritty historicals. If you would like to check out my books, some of them are on sale for only .99 cents on Amazon, like my three book fairy tale bundle which includes a gay erotic retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and Book Three of my sexy Christmas books A Gift for Santa which is also less than a buck.

I am so excited about GRL this year! This is my third time attending, and I am looking forward to catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

Many writers are introverts, but if you are attending GRL, it will take you about three point two seconds to know that I am not one of them! LOL

I love to meet fans, talk books, and just have fun. You will find me laughing loudly somewhere, having a drink at the bar or bustin’ a move and raisin’ a ruckus on the dance floor—at both the main events and the After Hours parties. I hope all of you feel free to come up to me and say hi! I promise not to bite…..though I have spanked a few folks before. I swear they asked for it! LOL You know who you crazy cats are!

Any whooo…. Please feel comfortable to come up to me and say hello. I am bringing prizes and goodies that I can’t wait to share. I didn’t bother with the pre-order book sale nonsense, because frankly, I’m attending GRL to meet fans and make lifelong friendships with people like me and I didn’t want to make any extra work for fans. If you wanna buy my print book Easy Rider, there will be copies available at the main books signing on Saturday.

To celebrate GRL and my visit to the Blogger Girls, I am offering a FREE copy of my 1Night Stand book, Accidentally Beautiful, to one lucky commenter!

About Deanna Wadsworth

Deanna Wadsworth might be a bestselling erotica author, but she leads a pretty vanilla life in Ohio with her wonderful husband and a couple adorable cocker spaniels. She has been spinning tales and penning stories since childhood, and her first erotic novella was published in 2010. When she isn’t writing books or brainstorming with friends, you can find her making people gorgeous in a beauty salon. She loves music and dancing, and can often be seen hanging out on the sandbar in the muddy Maumee River or chilling with her hubby and a cocktail in their basement bar. In between all that fun, Deanna cherishes the quiet times when she can let her wildly active imagination have the full run of her mind. Her fascination with people and the interworkings of their relationships have always inspired her to write romance with spice and love without boundaries.

Eight months ago, British academic Paul Ansell lost his lover—and all the memories of their time together—in an accident at Iceland’s Gullfoss Falls. Returning to the misty island country to resume his study of the bloodthirsty Viking Egil Skallagrimsson is tough as he struggles to pull his life back together.

First, there’s his colleague, Mags, who treats him like glass, and summer student Alex, who peppers him with discomforting questions. Then there’s Icelandic jet-boat driver Viggo, a tattooed, modern-day Viking who won’t say much about how they know each other. Leaving Paul to wonder if their volcanic attraction is fuelled by a desire to make a fresh start, or desperation to forget the past.

As more fragments of his lost memories fall into place, Paul is unsure if he can trust himself, much less anyone around him. And he begins to suspect his accident was nothing of the kind.

Warning: Contains a modern-day Viking whose boat has V8 engines for oars, and a harsh land of hot springs and hotter passions that won’t forgive any false steps.
