Blurb: Faery royalty have always married for duty rather than love. Prince Chrysanths should be no different—except with a human for a father, the prince known as Puck already is different. When he is betrothed against his will to Prince Sky, Puck flees to his father in the human world, only to have Sky follow.

Prince Sky Song of the Clouds isn’t thrilled with the prospect of marriage either, but is bound by duty to follow through. If he can’t win Puck over, the faery realm might very well dissolve into utter chaos. Too busy arguing, Puck and Sky are unaware there are others with a vested interest in seeing the betrothal fail. In a bid for Puck’s crown, they’ll seek to keep them apart, even as Puck and Sky realize that duty and love don’t always have to be mutually exclusive.

Author Q&A with Chris T. Kat + Excerpt & Giveaway!

Interview Banner

Hi Chris, welcome to The Blogger Girls! Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

If you could bring back one TV show, what would it be and why?

Oh, that’s easy! I’d love to bring back The Sentinel, and I’d really like to either change the ending or have us watch how Blair and Jim settle into their new roles. Well, and I’d absolutely love it if they’d become a couple onscreen. What? Dreaming is allowed, right?

I adored this show right away. Even when I saw the first trailers, I knew I’d want to watch it. Hey, the guy, Jim, had crazy talents and he was a cop; that should be interesting. It was, but the best part was when Blair showed up. He was that happy-go-lucky guy, but he also had great knowledge. I think there was very good chemistry between the two actors and that showed onscreen. Also, there were a lot of lovely domestic scenes, and these two were as close as any couple. Then we had Blair helping Jim learn to use his talents, and the crimes they solved. It was the perfect blend for me, and I’d love to watch this show again.

About Battle Stations

BattleStationsThe fight to eradicate the Tash’Ba breeding stations continues, with spunky Commander Berit Turner and his Nadisc mate, Tom, in the thick of things. Sometimes it seems as though they’ll never locate and destroy them all. And there’s always the fear that the Tash’Ba have something else, something worse—if that’s even possible—lurking ahead.

As if things aren’t bad enough, Berit’s less than stellar past is threatening to bite him in the ass, and they’ve received alarming new information. The Tash’Ba queen needs to use Earth as a place to hatch the egg of her successor. And if what she says is true, the new queen will be even more voracious and cruel than her predecessor.

Berit, along with his team—Tom, Carson, Niyara, and Fleur—must do everything in their power to stop her. If they fail, Earth will be lost forever.

An Excerpt from Battle Stations

Veering to the left, I allowed myself a quick glance over my shoulder. Not that I saw any chance of the elgoth having lost interest in me, because those fucking beasts never lost interest once they’d set their sights on prey, but sometimes a new prey might attract them more, which I’d have welcomed right then.

My lungs burned and my leg muscles smarted like hell from running like a rabbit through thick brushes and overgrown ferns. I even zigzagged around. Too bad I couldn’t find a rabbit’s hole to hide in.

I had no idea where Tom, Carson, and the rest of the team were, either.

We’d been separated before—it happened when gigantic Tash’Ba war beasts decided we looked good enough to eat—but I’ve never liked it. No, scratch that. Every time it happened, it put the fear of God in me. A gust of warm breath, mingled with some spittle, sprayed my neck. I squeaked and swerved to the right, vaulting over a stunted tree trunk. Seconds later, wood splinters sped past my head, and I lost my footing on the vibrating ground.

I sprawled facedown in the mud, panic sending bolts of confusing messages through my body. Maybe… maybe if I kept completely still, the elgoth wouldn’t touch me? The first time I’d made the acquaintance of one of these towering forty-foot-tall creatures, Tom had instructed me not to move, because they wouldn’t be able to locate us.

It had worked on Ligador and a couple of other breeding stations, but last time a team member tried this approach, the elgoth had roared and ripped him apart. All Tash’Ba war beasts seemed to be altering their tactics, making them even more unpredictable than before.

The mud around me sloshed, almost causing me to inhale some of it. I suppressed the urge to cough and kept my mouth shut as tight as I’d ever done, even though a whimper threatened to spill over my lips any second.

Another gust of foul breath struck my neck. My hair stood on end, my muscles locked in some kind of rigid stupor. That was it. I’d end my life as a morsel for an elgoth.

A blast echoed from the south, and the beast’s breath vanished from my neck. Gunfire followed the blast, and voices filtered through my terrified haze. They’d run right into the elgoth if I didn’t warn them. But… if I moved, or raised my voice, the elgoth would bite my head off. Literally.

Author Q&A with Elizabeth Noble + Giveaway!

Interview Banner

Hi Elizabeth, welcome to The Blogger Girls! Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Hello and thank you for being a part of my blog tour. I’m an author for Dreamspinner Press. Shifting Chaos is my latest novel. It’s the final installment of The Sleepless City an urban fantasy series co-written with Anne Barwell.

How do you develop your plots and characters?

Since this particular series is co-written with another author, Anne Barwell we plotted the individual books as well as the series together. There were many fun hours spent in chat and via email working out the details. We began with Anne’s basic idea of an urban fantasy series and each of us added details to build from there.

Otherwise, when I’m writing solo I generally begin with plot ideas. I do a little research, which creates more ideas. Everything is stored in a OneNote notebook I create for each books and series. From there I decide what the characters are like and who they should be. Characters have a tendency to take over once created and they begin filling in their backstories, character traits and so on.

Who doesn’t love a good hero? Tell us about your protagonist. Was there a real life inspiration behind them?

Neither Forge or Blair have any specific individuals their personalities are based from. They’re more of an amalgamation of qualities I admire in people I know. I do use images as guides for their looks, mainly because that’s an easy way to keep those features consistent.

What real-life inspirations do you use when world building?

I do an enormous amount of research while developing my plots. There are always tidbits I find that become inspiration in either my current work in progress or a future one. I like to take real things and manipulate them into my alternate universe.

Did you learn anything from this book and what was it?

I did! I learned several creative and unique ways to vanquish a demon. I also learned a few interesting facts about tracking and the Algonquin language.

It’s your last meal on earth. What do you choose?

Iced tea. Pizza or burgers and fries with something gooey and chocolate for dessert. An amaretto sour would be lovely too.

About Elizabeth Noble

Elizabeth Noble started telling stories before she actually knew how to write, and her family was very happy when she learned to put words on a page. Those words turned into fan fiction that turned into a genuine love of M/M romance fiction. Being able to share her works with Dreamspinner is really a dream come true. She has a real love for a good mystery complete with murder and twisty plots as well as all things sci-fi, futuristic, and supernatural and a bit of an unnatural interest in a super-volcano in Wyoming.

Elizabeth has three grown children and is now happily owned by an adorable mixed breed canine princess named Rosie, and two cats, Murphy and Yeti. She lives in her native northeast Ohio, the perfect place for gardening, winter and summer sports (go Tribe!). When she’s not writing she’s working as a veterinary nurse, so don’t be surprised to see her men with a pet or three who are a very big part of their lives.

Two of Elizabeth’s books have received Honorable Mentions in the Rainbow Awards.

Honorary Blogger Lane Hayes: The Joy of Discovery + Giveaway!

Honorary_Blogger_Post

The Joy of Discovery

by Lane Hayes

I admire people who aren’t afraid to take risks. It’s just so not me. Don’t get me wrong… I’m usually willing to give something new a try, but on my terms. I like a planned orderly existence in which I feel as though I have a modicum of control. But let’s be honest… where’s the fun in that? The unexpected is what keeps things exciting.  At times it may test my comfort zone and cause me to question my sanity, but I admit I have a soft spot for wacky, smart people who aren’t afraid to take a chance. And thankfully, I’m surrounded by a few.

One of my closest friends from college is a perfect example. She’s off the charts intelligent and has a few degrees to prove it, but she’s kind of… eccentric. She’s the original “nature” girl. Loves to camp, has traveled the world and for a self-proclaimed hippy has led a pretty cosmopolitan life.  Until I met her (almost thirty years ago, yikes!), I’d never been on a plane, slept in a tent or had a shot of tequila. True, it was college and I probably would have discovered a few of those things on my own, but I wonder if I would have developed a love of travel.

My first ever plane ride was from LA to Hawaii. I was twenty years old and scared shitless. Of course, I soon realized it wasn’t that bad, especially when I arrived five hours later in a magical, tropical land where everything smelled like flowers. From the minute that trip began, it was nonstop trip of firsts ranging from trying poi (a Hawaiian staple that looks like purple mush) to sleeping on the cold ground in a tent with a hole on top of a red ant colony.  I came home with a sunburn, bug bites and the intense desire to do it all over again.  Minus the ants.  Over the past couple of decades I’ve traveled quite a bit. The joy of discovery in a new place is a rush. Moreover, the exposure to other cultures and ways of thinking is priceless.  It’s an education all its own. Every time you leave your comfort zone, even if it’s by way of a train or a bus rather than a 747, you’re learning something new. There is no doubt that travel has been a major influence on my writing. Exploring a new world and being open to new experiences can change your life.

In Better Than Safe, Paul is a British ad exec who’s traveled extensively for his work and enjoyed it. However, he’s looking forward to spending time at home in DC and maybe even meeting someone nice.  Instead he meets Seth. Seth is an international fashion model, sometime guitarist slash aspiring artist. He’s beautiful but undeniably odd. One minute Paul could be convinced Seth is an immature, overgrown adolescent and the next, a genius. Either way, he’s exactly the type of man Paul swore off years ago. Crazy artist types are a bad bet for a man who values a measure of peace in his personal life. In spite of all the compelling reasons Paul can think of to steer clear of Seth, he can’t deny he is very attracted to Seth’s brand of chaos. He may be exactly the man to convince Paul some risks are better than being safe.

Better Than Safe is book 4 in the Better Than Stories series. These books are standalones and can be read in any order. Thank you so much for having me on your blog today!

Happy Reading! Lane Hayes xo

About Better Than Safe

25512977Paul Fallon is a fashion advertising guru. He’s a genius at dealing with difficult editors, art directors, and designers alike. He thrives on the chaotic atmosphere and constant challenges. But in his personal life, he’s hoping for peace and stability. Settling down with a nice doctor or lawyer sounds perfect. Anyone but an artist. He’s been there, done that, and he doesn’t want to relive the heartache.

Seth Landau is a model, occasional guitarist, and aspiring painter. He’s quirky, flighty, and wise beyond his years. Life has taught him some tough lessons, then given him opportunities he never dreamed of. He’s learned to appreciate the fragility of life and to express it in his work. Seth’s flare for the absurd combined with a supple mind and a beautiful body are too alluring for Paul to ignore. Against his best intentions, Paul is drawn to the younger man whose particular brand of crazy challenges Paul to accept that things aren’t always as they seem. Sometimes taking a chance is better than being safe.
