“And that’s okay.” Mason sat forward and clasped his hands on his desk. “So, tell me something, you helping Sawyer, is that to keep your mind off all this shit?”

Grant blew out a long, tired breath. “Partly.” He paused then added, “I need something to keep me busy that doesn’t involve going back to work and dealing with people’s judgment.” He shrugged. “And, okay, fine…maybe a tiny part of it is guilt, but you can’t tell Sawyer that. That stubborn jackass will spit nails. No way he’ll let me help him if he knows that.”

Mason snorted and raised a teasing brow. “Trust me. I’m used to dealing with stubborn jackasses.”

Grant narrowed his eyes. “Very funny.” He pulled out his phone and looked at the screen. “What time will you be home? I can order us a pizza or something.”

Mason didn’t even try to hide his surprise or attempt to act as if Grant calling it home didn’t stir something in him.

Grant furrowed his brows, like he was trying to figure out what the hell he’d said to get that reaction. A light dawned, and he waved a hand at Mason. “You know what I meant. It is your home, isn’t it?”

Well, when he put it that way… “A pizza sounds good. I’ll be home around eight. Got a lot of paperwork to catch up on.”

“All right. You good with me clearing some things out of that other room?”

“Yeah. Whatever you need to do.”

“Oh, and I Googled what he’ll need. To make things easier, you know? Ordered a handle for the shower, a raised toilet seat, and one of those long, grippy claw things. You know, like on the infomercial?”

Mason laughed. “Yeah, I know. Like I said, whatever you need to do.”

“Did you draw that?” Avery pointed to a picture of the Grim Reaper he’d done ages ago. As Avery stood there studying it, Ryder wondered if maybe he saw something Ryder didn’t.

“Yeah. Not my finest work, but…” Ryder peeled his T-shirt over his head and tossed it on the chair in the corner.

“That’s really damn good for not being your finest”—Avery turned, his gaze scanning the length of Ryder’s bare skin—“work.” He rubbed his hands nervously together, averting his eyes. “I should go.”

Ryder took the few steps needed to be right in front of the sexy man. “Why are you fighting this so damn hard?” He moved in closer, glancing down between their bodies. “And I do mean hard.”

A low growl rumbled in Avery’s chest as he moved forward, backing Ryder up against the nearest wall—and hell fucking yes was there heat in those gorgeous, Caribbean blue eyes.

Avery pressed closer, holding Ryder’s arms down next to his sides, their cocks aligning through their pants. “Because you’re about to pass out from exhaustion, and I’ve been here once before.” Avery leaned in and licked Ryder’s bottom lip, and Ryder just about came right then in his goddamn jeans. “Do you know the difference between you and me, Ryder?” Avery rubbed his soft lips against Ryder’s, sliding the tip of his tongue in only enough for Ryder to get a teasing taste.

“What? What’s the…? What the fuck is the difference?” Jesus Christ, the man was melting all logical thought with just the tip of his delicious tongue.

Avery moved his mouth across Ryder’s jaw, licking a path up to Ryder’s ear. “When I’m drunk, I could get you from Jersey to anywhere and back. I remember everything.” Avery let go of Ryder’s left arm but growled, “Don’t move.”

“Hot damn,” Ryder whispered, but through his lust-filled haze, Avery’s words…from Jersey to anywhere and back…teased some distant corner of his mind.

Avery slid his hand over Ryder’s erection, and Ryder’s eyes fucking crossed then pressed closed from sheer desire. “I’m telling you right now”—Avery kissed Ryder again, but it was still barely enough to taste him—“if I ever take this”—he slid both hands back behind Ryder, cupping each rounded cheek—“you can literally bet your ass you’ll fucking remember it.”

Shit. There wasn’t a single thing in his life, aside from the shop, that he didn’t fuck up. He’d put this distance between them. It was his fault Eli had pulled away. Jake lifted his head and took a step back. Eli stared at him, breathing heavy…and he looked pissed.

“Eli…”

Eli studied Jake, as if he were looking for signs that Jake was lying. Then the anger on Eli’s face morphed into—he didn’t know what. Disbelief, maybe? Eli stepped hesitantly closer, and they just stared at each other, heat crackling between them, until Eli moved. Hell, maybe it was him. He had no idea who moved first, but as Eli’s mouth touched his, he couldn’t care less. They hadn’t kissed each other like this—like they needed to just to fucking survive—in weeks. He’d missed him so damn much even though he saw him almost every day.

Eli’s hands slid into Jake’s hair as Jake wrapped his arms around Eli’s waist. He didn’t know how much he needed this…needed Eli…until this very moment. It was like all the fucked-up shit in his life didn’t exist.

The toilet flushed upstairs, making them both pull back and look up at the ceiling. Footsteps sounded above them followed by a door closing. Jake looked at Eli, hating what he was about to say. “We can’t do this out here.”

“Yeah, you’re right.” Eli sighed, glancing back up at the ceiling. “What’s above the office?”

Jake furrowed his brows, completely confused. “The guest bedroom. Why?”

Eli grabbed Jake’s hand and led him out of the family room and down the hall.

“What the hell are you doing?” Jake asked in a hushed tone, completely confused when Eli yanked him into the office. As soon as the door was closed, Eli pushed Jake back against it, and the sound of the lock clicking seemed as loud as a gun firing. Oh.

Eli leaned all his weight against Jake, shoving his hands up underneath Jake’s shirt while Jake took ahold of Eli’s face and pulled him forward until their mouths came together. Jake’s hand was killing him, but he didn’t care. He felt the burn of Eli’s scruff as it scratched against his face. Man, he fucking loved that. Eli pushed up Jake’s shirt taking a step back so Jake had room to yank the thing over his head. Eli did the same with his own and then they were back at it. Tongues battling, hands all over the damn place, and both of them about to bust in their fucking jeans.

Eli dragged his hands down Jake’s torso to the waistband of his pants, but when Jake tried to unbutton them, Eli pushed his hands away. “Nope. I call the shots.” Eli released the button and slowly dragged the zipper down.

“Who says?” Jake growled and leaned down, trying to kiss Eli, but Eli pulled his head back.

“I do; unless you want fucking blue balls to go along with your black and blue hand.”

“You’re taking too damn long—fuck…” Jake’s head fell back against the door with a thud as Eli’s hand curled around his cock.

“So impatient.” Eli tugged on Jake’s cock just enough to make him want more but not enough to get him off.

Hard to Let Go by Jaclyn Quinn: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

“Do you always put chocolate chips in your blueberry muffins?”

He looked down at the bowl then up at Leslie. He’d been fucking up all morning and it pissed him off to know it was because of that asshole. “Shit. Guess today’s special has been decided, chocolate chip blueberry muffins.”

“Sounds yummy if you ask me, but then, I pretty much like chocolate in everything.” Leslie laughed and tossed some chocolate chips in her mouth.

Owen shook his head and said, “Yeah, I know you do. If you eat one more chocolate croissant, I’m docking your pay.” He bumped her with his hip to move her out of the way as he reached for the muffin pan.

“Like hell you will. It’s called quality control. How else are you gonna know if this stuff is good enough to sell? You’re welcome,” she deadpanned, shrugging her shoulders. “Besides, if you being distracted gets us more chocolate in your baked goods, I don’t see a problem.” Leslie winked at him and tucked a red curl that had fallen out of her hair tie back with the rest of them on top of her head. They each had pale skin, but with Owen’s dark chocolate brown hair and her red curls, they didn’t even look related.

“Who says I’m distracted?” he asked defensively. He was totally fucking distracted. Man, he really needed to get his mind off of the shit-storm that barreled into town this morning. Luckily, all of the mistakes he’d made were ones he could salvage…so far.

Owen’s mind had been going back to the close call that morning over and over again. He knew he was being immature blaming Brody for anything that happened. Owen’s the one who almost caused the accident by running the stop sign. He was just so damned pissed at himself, because before he recognized Brody, he’d let his eyes wander over his well-developed body. The perfect fit of his jeans, the plaid shirt that clung to a broad chest, the goatee that made him look rugged and mysterious, and the brown hair just long enough to tuck behind his ears. That was not even close to the clean cut, all-star athlete that used to make Owen’s life a living hell.

Without his high school jacket or him hiding behind the ring leader, Chuck, no one would know it was Brody Walker. Except it was him. He was one of Chuck’s lackeys, always there, taunting Owen and egging Chuck on. The fact that Owen had let his eyes wander over his perfectly sculpted—no…shit, Owen—over that piece of shit—yeah that’s better—disgusted him. Proof positive he just needed to get laid.
