Blurb: In spite of all the bad memories and fears, Jordan had dutifully returned home to Mt. Desert Island, Maine to look after his ailing mother. Now, financially devastated by her care and emotionally exhausted by her death, Jordan tries to pick up the pieces of his life and rebuild his floundering career as an illustrator. While working on a new commission, he finds a man unconscious at the local lighthouse. When the man regains consciousness, he has no memory.

The only clue to his identity is a limited edition hardcover copy of Storm’s Eye, a mystery novel by Jordan’s favorite author and client. Inside is a scrawled dedication, ‘To Zane’. What is this man’s story? And why, since meeting him, has Jordan’s life strangely paralleled the plot of the book that he carried? Will Jordan weather the harrowing trials of ‘Storm’s Eye’? Or will he become a casualty of the mysterious stranger to whom he opened his heart?

Review: This turned out to be a really great story. The mystery started out a little obvious, until it wasn’t, and the twists were just enough to keep me on my toes. I did guess who the bad guy was, but I was surprised by WHO he was…if that makes any kind of sense.

Jordan is an illustrator for an author who writes mystery books. He is doing really well, until life begins to imitate art, and all of a sudden, Jordan is freaking out. Zane is an obviously tortured and abused man whom Jordan finds unconscious inside the lighthouse that he is drawing, Thus begins the many similarities between Jordan, Zane, and his book.

There is bit of a side story, going back when Jordan was a teenager, and even though it was necessary for the story to move forward, I am not a fan of flashbacks, as it does pull me out of the story at times.

I enjoyed watching the relationship bloom between Zane and Jordan, but it was also a bit unrealistic. As damaged and hurt as Zane was, and the fact that he was a suspect, it was a bit far-fetched that Jordan would invite him into his home. It didn’t detract from the story, but it was a bit odd.

The mystery itself was really well written, and I enjoyed watching it play out. I didn’t expect all the twists and turns, so it kept my interest and made me want to read faster to see how it was going to play out. I admit I got a little nervous at the end, afraid that it wasn’t going to end well, but rest assured that we do have ourselves a happily ever after.

Overall Impression: I really liked it

*I received a copy of this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.*
