Blurb: As a paramedic, Ryan Bishop has responded to his fair share of bizarre situations. However, he’s not prepared when he meets Phillip, a local man who keeps popping up to save the day. Everyone lauds Phillip as a hero, but he prefers to stay in the background, going so far as to refuse medical treatment.

Ryan is intrigued, not only by Phillip’s unassuming manner, but also by his ability to be in the right place at the right time. Ryan wants some answers and maybe even a date. What he gets is an unexpected part in Phillip’s origin story.

Review:

As a paramedic, Ryan’s seen a lot but when he meets Phillip at one of the scenes, he can’t stop thinking about the stubborn man who seems to be taking it upon himself to be a hero. Phillip has a few secrets and doesn’t want to put Ryan in danger. Ryan won’t give up on Phillip, though, and when Phillip’s in danger, he’ll come running. But will Ryan be able to put up with the danger Phillip’s heroism puts him in the middle of?

This was a super cute story. I loved that it was about Phillip, who had superhero powers, and Ryan who saves lives as a paramedic. I liked Ryan as a character and how he was so enamored with Phillip even though he only spoke a few words with him. As for Phillip, he was a little enigmatic; since we didn’t get his POV, I would have liked to explore more of him and how he obtained his powers.

I really enjoyed this one but I had two issues. Firstly, there was too much sex for me for how short this story was. The second issue was that I was very unimpressed with Phillip’s explanation of how he obtained his superpowers. I would have liked to dig deeper into it but what surprises me is that Phillip was curious enough to open a book but he wasn’t curious enough to figure out HOW he got his powers? I found that a little unbelievable.

In the end, this was still a good story. It was entertaining and a cute quick read. I would have liked to see things from Phillip’s POV but I still enjoyed the story as it was. I’m hoping we get to see more superheroes and where Ryan and Phillip go from here!

Overall Impression: I really liked it!
