Release Blitz: Charlie Sunshine by Lily Morton + Excerpt & Giveaway!

Charlie Sunshine by Lily Morton

Sometimes love is a lot closer to home than you think.

Charlie Burroughs can’t keep a man. All he wants is a good relationship like the ones he sees his friends having, but none of the men he picks ever work out. Despite him trying to be the perfect boyfriend, the men are either threatened by his looks or his epilepsy or a combination of the two. It’s lucky that he has his best friend Misha to turn to. The two of them are closer than peas in a pod and fiercely loyal to each other. He can’t imagine his life without Misha in it.

Misha Lebedinsky is the complete opposite of his best friend. Being the support system for his mum and twin sisters leaves Misha with neither the time nor the inclination for a relationship. Quick and frequent hook-ups are his favourite means of communication and any other pesky emotional needs he has are met by Charlie, who he’s devoted to. He lives a life of happy compartmentalization with no intention of ever changing.

All of this changes when the two best friends move in together.

Being in close proximity means that they suddenly start to see each other in a very different light. But Charlie struggles when his drive to be the perfect partner clashes with the fact that he’s in love with a man who knows every little thing about him. And even if he can get past that, can a relationship ever work with a man who’d need a dictionary to tell him what love means?

From bestselling author Lily Morton comes a love story about a sunny librarian who has relationship written all over him and a banker who doesn’t even have it in his blurb. This is the second book in the Close Proximity series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Tread by A.G. Carothers: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from Tread

by A.G. Carothers

Thursdays had quickly become my favorite day of the week. I spent the rest of the week looking forward to today. Last week, Gavin had said something that got me thinking. It’d been many years since I’d given any thought to submitting to someone again. I hadn’t met anyone who’s presence brought that out in me. Gavin had made fun of me from time to time about how I assessed people, but I think me and Gavin’s new sub have that in common.

Everyone, whether they realize it or not, presents themselves in different but discernible ways. It’s in their posture and the energy they send out. It’s not foolproof by any means. Excellent liars and manipulators can change that about themselves, or people trained for espionage or that kind of thing. Still, your everyday person usually isn’t aware of how they project themselves.

Darius screamed nurturer, Daddy Dom, and maybe a little Service Dom. There’s a part of me that yearned for that connection and wanted to be taken care of.  But I had given up on that notion ages ago because who would want to put up with my routines and compulsions? I stopped training service subs a few years ago because most couldn’t handle my demands.

Darius was demanding in a stern-yet-not-assholish way that was super-hot. He was accepting—so far—of my ways and didn’t seem offended. Once he understood I needed to be the one to do things in a certain way, he let me do them without argument or scorn. That was rare in this age of impatience. He was observant and attentive. The way he catered to me could be perceived as submissive in some light, but the commanding way in which he did them crossed the action over that line. There was a difference in asking someone to do something for you and then having something done for you without you asking.

I liked that he didn’t ask.

I walked into the café at eight sharp and headed to my booth. I wiped everything down, took off my jacket, and put my stuff down then went to order. I ordered the same thing every Thursday. Once, in the beginning, when I made this my Thursday routine, the employee had tried to be helpful and preempt my order and had everything ready for me. It was kind of them, and I appreciated the attention to detail and forethought. I had explained to them I’d rather they wait until I made my order. What if I had wanted to be wild that day and have a blueberry muffin instead? It was more polite to wait than assume.

I taught that there was a fine line between knowing what your dominant wanted and assuming what your dominant wanted. It was also far more important to remember how something should be done when it was needed than trying to read minds.

I opened my laptop and logged into the HPD remote desktop. After the first month, Darius had made me my own log-in for his other network, which wasn’t attached to the public café one. I was pleased with his thoughtfulness. My case files were stored on the remote desktop, not my local machine, for security, so I appreciated the extra security layer. I had clicked on the case folder I was currently working on when I saw Darius approach in the corner of my eye. He normally didn’t bring my breakfast; it piqued my curiosity

The wide, almost excited, smile on his face demanded that I return it. I was happy to see him, so it was easy to do.

“Good morning, Abel.” Darius set the coffee and juice down and did something he’s never done before. He slid into the booth on the other side of the table.

“Good morning, Darius. How are you?”

“I’m doin vera well this fine mornin. An’ ye’self?” His accent thickened just enough for it to send tingles through my body.

“Fine,” I unexpectedly squeaked. I cleared my throat and tried again. “Fine. Just fine.” I smiled sheepishly, hoping the blush on my face wasn’t too bright.

“What are you doing tomorrow night?”

“Tomorrow is Friday night.”

“Yes.” He leaned on the table, putting his forearms on the edge. “What are you doing?”

“Cleaning the pantry and the refrigerator out, ordering Italian, and watching Kitchen Nightmares.” I ran down my short mental list.

“Kitchen Nightmares, huh?”

I nodded.

“After you clean out your pantry and refrigerator?”

I nodded again.

“Is that so you don’t feel shame about your own kitchen when Gordon is yelling at the restaurant owners about how filthy they are?”

Laughter barked out of me. “Yes. That’s it exactly.”

Teeth flashed at me, and I lowered my head.

“May I cook you Italian instead of you ordering it?”

I raised my head again and arched an eyebrow. What was he asking?

He continued, “I can make it at my place and bring it over, or if it’s okay with you, I can cook at your place.”

“You don’t want me to go over to your place?”

“No, I’d love for you to come to my place. I just didn’t want to interrupt your routine too much.”

“That’s…that’s very thoughtful of you. No one has done that before.” I was at a loss for words.

“So, is that a yes?” He beamed at me, not acknowledging my nervousness.

“Yes, I would like it very much if you came to my house and cooked for me.”

“Excellent. I’ll be back later, and you can give me your number.”

He seemed pleased as he scooted out and headed back to the busy counter. There was a sway to his step as the pleats of his kilt brushed back and forth across his toned thighs.

I immediately pulled out my phone and texted Gavin. I had no idea what to do. I hadn’t had a date in years, and the only person who’d been in my house since I stopped training was Gavin. I quickly typed out what had just happened. I put my phone down and took a deep breath.

The reality that Darius MacLeod was coming to my house and cooking me dinner sunk in. I picked up my phone again.

Me: Darius is coming over to my house tomorrow night and cooking dinner. My house is a disaster zone! There’s no way that it is fit for company!!!!!

I quickly logged out of everything, including my forgotten laptop, packed up, and rushed home.

Bishop: A True Lover’s Story by A.E. Via: Exclusive Excerpt!

Exclusive Excerpt from Bishop: A True Lover’s Story

by A.E Via.

“I’ve been lying here thinking how much I wanted to have dinner with you tonight, how much I want to take you out to dinner. I can’t cook, so I’m not even going to embarrass myself there.”

Edison laughed, settling more comfortably into his soft sheets. He swept his hand over the empty mattress beside him, anxious for the day that Bishop would be lying there with him and he hoped that day would come sooner rather than later. Bishop kept talking, his rough voice luring Edison into a warm sense of comfort and slow-burning stimulation.

“Tomorrow I’m going fishing with my dad, we tried last Sunday but it stormed. But, Monday after work, I wanted to come over so I can finish clearing out the weeds against the house where the flowerbed will be. The sooner I get some chemical applications down for weed control, the better. I’m already starting pretty late in the season. It’ll only take a couple hours to finish that.”

“Okay. I may have to work late on Monday. I have a meeting with a client at four, but you can let yourself in, I never lock the gate.”

“I’ll do that,” Bishop agreed.

There was a long pause while he listened to Bishop’s deep breaths and the periodic hitches in his voice. “What are you doing?” he asked.

“Just listening to you, Eddie.”

Edison shook when he ran his hand over his bare chest as Bishop’s words raised goosebumps over his body. “I like it when you call me that,” he said, his own voice sounding off. “I don’t let anyone else call me that.”

“Good.”

Edison hadn’t pleasured himself in a long time but he was positive he was going to tonight. There was no way he would be able to sleep. His dick was throbbing, and crowded awkwardly in his boxers. He wanted to let it out, but he knew he’d whimper the moment his hot flesh hit the cool air, so he just barely refrained. But, god, it hurt so bad.

“I’m gonna let you go because… I just… mmmm. Yeah. I’m gonna go.” Bishop’s voice sounded strained, and just as husky as his own. “I’ll talk to you soon, handsome.”

Bishop hung up quickly, not giving him a chance to respond but he believed he understood why. Edison tossed his cell onto the bed and the next second he had his shorts shoved down to his knees and his hand fisting his shaft. It was too embarrassing for him to think about how fast it happened as his back bowed off the bed and his come splattered his chest. Bishop’s name lingered on his parted lips, his head reeling at what he’d just done and how hard he’d come.

Honorary Blogger Aldrea Alien: Random Facts about the Udynea Empire & the Kingdom of Tirglas + Excerpt & Giveaway!

Random Facts about the Udynea Empire & the Kingdom of Tirglas

by Aldrea Alien

Hi, I’m Aldrea! I write fantasy romance in a variety of heat levels both within and without the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. My newest release, To Target the Heart, is an m/m romance and part of the spellster series which is largely set in the Known World, consisted of a single giant continent and a few outlying islands.

The story itself involves a pair of princes from two very different realms. Darshan vris Mhanek comes from the great glutton of the Udynea Empire that commands a great deal of the central continent, whereas Prince Hamish of the Mathan Clan is from the rustic, and largely rural, Kingdom of Tirglas. And there are a few differences in their lands that present a bit of a bump for both princes, leading to them learning to comprehend each other and avoid instigating a war between their lands.

Tirglas

  1. The royal family never leaves their clan lands. Not even when married as succession is handed down to the next eldest and then their children.
  2. There is only the Goddess. She is considered responsible for growth, procreation and harvest.
  3. Hunting down known ‘rutters’ (gay men) was abolished only half a century ago.
  4. Elves are rarely seen with the majority of those who stay having roots as refugees from the Udynea Empire.
  5. Marriage is considered legal for all manner of couples, but only binding if a child is born before the end of the second year.
  6. Everything is bigger in Tirglas, from the average height of the population to the size of their animals. Including the local bears.
  7. Those displaying magical talent are confined to cloisters kept far from the general populace. Their limited range of study means that a great deal of these spellsters are highly knowledgeable in the healing arts.

Udynea Empire

  1. As a whole, sexuality is considered a non-issue. With class and anti-elven prejudice being far more typical.
  2. Women are the last to inherit property or titles. Even if it’s an only daughter, all other direct male lines must be eliminated before anything can be passed to her.
  3. Deities are multiple and often overlap in duties. A product of their centuries of colonisation, which typically ended with lopping off the ruling masses and integrating the common people. Those who are worshipped throughout the empire are the High Mother and Araasi, Queen of all deities.
  4. Assassination attempts are commonplace, leading to the majority of the nobility being highly skilled in magical healing. Many choose to display their prowess by imbibing otherwise lethal doses of poison as party tricks.
  5. Slavery has been legal for thousands of years and, since the arrival of elves on the continent, a large percentage of the slave population is comprised of them. There is a hiercharchy with certain slaves of the royal family having the power to execute nobility.
  6. Spellster’s aren’t regulated and not only dominate the nobility, but the Udynea Empire holds the highest percentage of spellsters of all the realms. Magic is used freely and without fear of being prosecuted for being born with it.
  7. Due to completely conquering several ancient civilisations—such as the already crumbling Domian Empire—in the distant past they’ve the largest source of ancient knowledge and technology. But not always the means to replicate their finds.

Handsome Death by Sara Dobie Bauer: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from Handsome Death

by Sara Dobie Bauer

I startle when I hear him in the hallway outside the apartment, talking on the phone, plus the clatter of keys. I didn’t expect him, but I should have, no doubt freaked after my inexplicable exit from the club. He already suspected what I was; now, I imagine he’s sure. And I’m usually so careful.

I consider jumping from the window to my hideout across the street, but don’t. I stand there, waiting, but waiting for what? I can’t get caught in his fucking apartment. This is how vampires end up in jail. Messy, Ethan, messy.

“I realize this sounds completely insane,” he says through wood, “but I swear he was there.”

I linger back in the shadows when the door swings open. He slams it behind him, locking the deadbolt and chain. At least he’s smart enough to do that, although neither would have stopped me from getting in.

He walks inside and stops in the center of the apartment—which, small as it is, only takes three of his long strides. “Please, just pull up the security footage and look for a massively tall hot guy with dark hair.”

The volume on Tris’s phone must be turned all the way up, because I hear whoever’s on the other side of the line: a man, bass beats behind him. It’s someone at the club. The voice cusses. “Tris, I got him, and you’re right; he disappeared. Your coffee shop boyfriend is definitely a vampire.”

He buries one hand in the shaggy hair on top of his head. “I knew it.”

“I’m worried you’re being stalked,” says phone person. “Vampires know it’s illegal, but some of them don’t care. Look, just come back to the club. Come—”

The words continue, but Tris must have just noticed the window is open. Shit, the room is positively filled with the scent of his fear. His heart rate is off the charts as he slowly lowers the cell phone from his ear, his buddy still begging him to come back to the club, saying he’ll be safe there.

Might as well come clean.

I turn on the lamp to my left, and Tris spins to face me. His phone hits the ground as he takes one step back. He huffs a quiet, “Fuck,” as we stare at each other. “What are you doing in my place, Ethan?”

I stay as still as possible because he resembles an underfed kitten about to flee. “I’m not going to hurt you.”

He stands there, frozen. “What do you want?”

What do I want? It hits me like a fist to the jaw. “You.”

He nibbles that pink bottom lip, and I can’t take it anymore. Self-restraint be damned, I move quickly and crowd him against the wall. My hands cage him in. When I reach out and rub my thumb over his cheek, his breath hitches—and there it is: lust in the air.

I trail my fingers down the side of his neck and press my mouth against his forehead. I feel his palms resting against my chest—not pushing me away, just resting. Despite knowing better, I can’t hold back with him so damn close, vibrating a heady mixture of fear and want. I cup the back of his neck and take a deep breath. It’s official: fuck Africa. I’m moving here to this tiny hallway with Tris’s body close to mine.

You Or No One by Olivier Bosman: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from You Or No One

by Olivier Bosman

“Have you been briefed?” Eric looked at Button-eyes for an answer.

“He has,” was the reply.

“Good. We will go in together, and I will introduce you. The queen is in a bad mood, but don’t let that put you off. She can huff and puff all she wants, but my father is the one in charge, and he is usually quite reasonable. Are you ready?”

I nodded, and we both stepped into the room. It was a large, bright room. The breakfast was laid out on a buffet table, but no one was eating. The king sat in an armchair, a newspaper on his lap. He was in his fifties; a handsome man with a full head of hair, brown and slightly curled, with a dignified sprinkling of grey on his temples. He wore corduroy trousers – like me – a green cardigan, and a gold-and-black-chequered cravat.

The queen and Petra sat next to each other on a sofa. The queen had a stern face. I could tell that she had been a great beauty in her youth, but time had been unkind to her. The wrinkles around her mouth gave her a permanently sour expression, and her blonde hair, tied tightly into a bun, did nothing to soften her image.

“Mother…  Father…” Eric’s voice cracked, and he stopped to clear his throat. “This is my friend… my dear friend from Oxford. Joel Bottomley.”

I turned towards the king, placed my arms by my sides as instructed, and nodded slowly. Then I turned towards the queen and did the same.

“Joel is a first year PPE student,” Eric continued. “He has been a great companion to me at Oxford and has helped me out on numerous occasions.”

“Pleased to meet you, Joel,” the king said. “Do sit down.” He pointed at a chair opposite the sofa. I took my seat. Eric sat down next to me.

“Now, Bottomley…” the queen said, looking me up and down. She spoke with a thick German accent. “Are you the grandson of Lady Bottomley?”

I was confused. “Beg your pardon, your majesty?”

“Of Kelston in Somerset?” the queen clarified.

“I’m sorry, ma’am. I don’t know who that is.”

Petra frowned and rolled her eyes. “He’s not related to Lady Bottomley, Mother. You know he’s not. Lady Bottomley doesn’t have any grandchildren.”

“Well, whose child are you, then?”

“You don’t know his family, Mother,” Eric said. “He comes from Wales.”

“Wales? Where in Wales?”

“A village called Tonypandy, ma’am.”

“I’ve never heard of it.”

“Not many people have.” I smiled. I hoped that remark would break the ice, but it didn’t. The queen seemed offended that I had the gall to come from a village she’d never heard of.

“You’re very skinny,” she said, looking me up and down again. “That jumper looks like a potato sack on you.”

Eric’s jaw dropped, and Petra almost choked on her tea. Even the king was forced to raise his eyebrows.

“I had to borrow this jumper, ma’am. My shirt got wrinkled in the suitcase.”

“Who gave you that jumper?”

“It was… um…” I had to be careful. I’d been calling him Button-eyes for so long, I’d almost forgotten his real name. “Mr Boersma. Mr Boersma gave it to me.”

“How long have you known each other?” the king asked.

Eric answered. “Since September.”

“That’s only four months.”

“Yes, but we’ve become good friends during that time.”

There was a pause in the conversation. A long, awkward pause. Eric nervously bounced his knee up and down. The king gently tapped his fingers against his newspaper, and the queen kept playing with the pearls around her neck.

“So…” the queen said, finally. “What is this thing you want to tell us? Why have we been summoned back from Denmark so suddenly?”

“Well…” Eric sat up nervously. “I wanted you to meet Joel.”

“Why?” The queen frowned with impatience. “Why have we been forced to interrupt our tour for this?”

Eric took a deep breath and blurted it out. “Joel and I are in love. We want to get married.”

A quiet fell over the room. Eric, Petra, and I kept staring at the king and queen, wondering who would answer first. The king cast his eyes to the ceiling while he thought of a reply, but it was the queen who finally spoke.

“Marry? You want to marry?” She laughed. A fake, bitter laugh. “You can’t marry a man, Eric. It’s ridiculous!”

“Why can’t I?” Eric protested. “It’s legal, isn’t it?”

“Not for us, Eric! Not for people like us! I’ve had enough of this!” She slammed her tea mug onto the glass coffee table and stood up. “How dare you interrupt our tour for something like this! How dare you!” She stormed out of the room.

Petra called after her. “Mother, stay. Please. Hear him out.” But it was of no use. The queen had gone.

Third One by Roe Horvat: Exclusive Excerpt (NSFW)!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from Third One (NSFW)

Only one last thing to do. After this, he wouldn’t have to see Marcus ever again unless he chose to. Luke needed the break. He would see the whole mess from a completely different perspective after a month or two. He’d be healthier for sure. This part of his life was over; he needed to say good-bye and start fresh. After I sleep for a day or five, that is.

He climbed the stairs. There was a sunroom up on the first floor. Sometimes at these parties, people would go there to rest and talk, take a break from the loud noise downstairs. Liam had always had a bar set up there and a group of lounge furniture.

But all doors were closed this time.

It was somewhere on the left, Luke remembered. The first or second door. He heard voices from behind the first door and paused. He knocked. Another sound but muffled by the door.

“Marcus?”

Oh, what the hell. He needed to get this over with. He grabbed the handle.

Luke burst through the door and froze.

For the ever-loving… Fuck!

Close your eyes. Go away. Run. Don’t look. Run!

He couldn’t move. His eyes wouldn’t close. Run! His feet were glued to the floor. He stood and stared like a mouse at a snake.

They didn’t notice him at first. Why would they? They were consumed by each other, kissing over Marcus’s shoulder, Liam’s hand on Marcus’s throat.

Marcus was naked, braced against the wall on his forearms, hands fisted. His back was curved beautifully, torso rippling with strain. Luke was, for the thousandth time, struck by the perfection of Marcus’s form, the grace, control, power… Luke had watched him, mesmerized, for years, fascinated with the defined muscles on his arms, his hands. He’d fantasized about exploring the base of Marcus’s throat, where the tendons met the collarbones. He’d worship the hollow between them, just that tiny spot… And now he saw Marcus just two meters away, naked but for one sock halfway off his left foot. Silly and oddly hot. The hollow between his collarbones was hidden underneath Liam’s palm. Looming over Marcus’s exposed, smaller body, Liam still had his open pants on, but he was shirtless, his tanned skin glowing. He held his man with one firm hand on Marcus’s hip, the other around his throat, and he pushed forward slowly, a powerful but controlled movement, until his hips were flush against Marcus’s ass cheeks. He stayed there, buried inside Marcus, and rocked them both, joined.

Marcus’s loud exhale echoed in the room, which seemed to darken with their passion. Luke should have hated seeing them. He should have been hurting, even nauseous. Maybe he would be in a second. But of all the things he’d ever seen in his short life, they were the most beautiful.

Luke stared at Marcus’s profile, hypnotized by the face of the man he loved, features warped by mindless pleasure. And he stared at Liam, long body all ropes and bones, sharp angles, hardened and defined by age, his every movement self-assured. A body of an immortal.

Liam retreated and slammed back inside, fucking harder, the muscles on his shoulders bulged, and Marcus moaned.

The door shut behind Luke with an earsplitting bang. Later, he would understand the simple, stupid detail that turned his world upside down and inside out. Draft. The door banged shut because of a draft. In that moment, he felt like someone shot him in the chest.

He stumbled backward, his head hitting the oak with a thud, and his shaking hand reaching behind for the handle. He fumbled, encountering only empty air.

That was when his and Marcus’s gazes met.

Luke felt his whole body catch fire. He was painfully hard, his nipples tingled, and his mouth flooded with saliva. He felt his blood pulse in his brain. Any second, he’d explode. Somehow, his gaze drifted to Liam’s black eyes, and he lost self-awareness. Because Liam’s eyes were hungry. It was like looking at his own desire impersonated. Liam’s magnetic gaze pulled him into the snake’s mouth.

Zero Divergence by Aimee Nicole Walker: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from Zero Divergence

by Aimee Nicole Walker

The shrill alarm pierced Royce’s turbulent sleep a few hours later. Sawyer reached over him and quickly shut it off before resting his head on Royce’s chest.

“I feel like roadkill,” Royce groused, trying to open his heavy eyelids.

Sawyer kissed his cheek, then rolled out of bed. “You look like it too.”

Royce found enough energy to lift his right arm and flip Sawyer off, earning a chuckle. “My eyes feel gritty, as if someone buried my face in sand.”

“It was Bones’s litter box,” Sawyer quipped. Someone was full of piss and vinegar this morning. “I think you should skip the workout and stay in bed longer.” His voice grew softer as he walked away from the bed. Seconds later, water splashed into the sink basin in the master bathroom, and Royce figured Sawyer was brushing his teeth. Then his sainted boyfriend returned to their bedroom and draped a warm, damp rag over his closed eyes.

Royce sighed as the soothing heat had an immediate effect. “That feels good.” Not as lovely as Sawyer’s mouth working his dick or even the first sip of morning coffee, but it was what he needed most.

“Sleep, Ro. I’ll wake you up in plenty of time to shower and wash the kitty litter out of your hair.”

“Asshole,” Royce groused before he drifted back to sleep.
