Release Blitz: Work-Love Balance by Allison Temple + Giveaway!

Work-Love Balance by Allison Temple

The customer always comes first, but IT consultant Brady Jansen loves to hate Nash O’Hara. Except the fine line between hate and attraction means sometimes Brady can’t help it when he crosses the boundary between professional and personal.

Recently divorced, workaholic Nash knows he’s hard to please. When the smart-mouthed IT consultant he depends on to keep his office running offers a no-commitment hookup, it seems like exactly what he and Brady both need to get through a busy summer at work. No one has to know about their arrangement.

But the more time they spend together, the more secrets they have to keep from the people around them—and from each other. The lies are piling up, until it’s hard to tell who’s fooling whom. If Brady and Nash want to find the balance between work and love, a little honesty will go a long way.

Work-Love Balance is a 70k contemporary MM office romance. It’s hot enough you’ll want to make sure the air conditioning is on in your cubicle, and heartfelt enough you’ll want to smack both characters before the end. HEA guaranteed.

Honorary Blogger A.E. Via: Ex Meridian + Excerpt & Giveaway!

Ex Meridian

by A.E. Via

I want to thank the Girls so so much for having me on again to promote another new release. These girls have been my biggest supporters from the early days and I can’t tell them how much I appreciate it. My MM action/romance novel entitled – Nothing Special VII: EX Meridian – that released on February 24th is already firing up the charts. I’m so excited to bring you the seventh installment in the award-winning, best-selling Nothing Special series.

I wanted to take this time to thank my amazing cover artist – Jay Aheer of Simply Defined Art – for making me one kickass cover to the next. Each one she does exceeds my expectations.  As an author and avid reader, I’m asked all the time why I put so much work and time into my cover art. I really believe that the escapism experiences starts at the very beginning, at the time of purchase. On that first click. It all starts with the illustration on the front. What else is gonna make a reader, especially one that’s not already familiar with my name, to click on the title. There’s no synopsis to read beside it when you’re scrolling down the list.

Minimalist covers have never been my thing. That’s okay for some authors but not me. The cover art on my books takes quite a bit of time and Jay never rushes me. She doesn’t stop producing drafts until I feel it’s perfect. She nailed Ex and Meridian in only a few rounds and I couldn’t be happier with this one. I think she really captured the darkness of this installment.

I told Jay that this book needed to be eye-catching and very different from the other six books. I also don’t conform to make the series all uniform. I like spice and variety. Sure, I could’ve just put a handsome man on the front and slapped the title up there, but that wouldn’t accurately portray my MCs or the book. I try to tell a piece of the story with my covers. I’m hoping Ex and Meridian’s cover show just how dramatic, dangerous, evil and sexy his character can possibly be.

Be sure to follow me on social media, or sign-up for my newsletter to never miss another release.

Happy Reading!

Rafe Varik

The troublemaker. The risk taker. The sexy club owner full of wicked promises.

Rafe has devoted his immortal existence to pleasure and causing mischief.

The only ones who can depend on him are his brothers. Of course, that’s very much a Varik thing.

But when the leader of the Arsenault clan specifically requests Rafe’s help in tracking down a killer, he can’t say no.

Sure, Rafe claims he’s doing it for his family. They’ve attracted too many enemies and could use a few allies.

That’s not the whole truth, though.

There’s something about Philippe Arsenault that draws Rafe in. He wants more of Philippe. The vampire leaves him longing for another second in his presence, another taste of his lips, another caress of those perfect fingers.

Yet when it’s all over, what will become of Philippe and Rafe? Because Philippe will always be an Arsenault, and Rafe will always be a Varik.

Saving Rafe is the second book in an MM paranormal romance series that has vampires, betrayal, annoying brothers, music, heartbreak, hope, sexy times, and a pair of star-crossed lovers.

Charmed by You by Jess Bryant: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from Charmed by You

by Jess Bryant

Henry Lord was bored out of his mind. He hated these campaign fundraisers. Galas. Balls. Parties. Whatever they were called, the events were always the same. Wealthy men and women from across the city, dressed in their finest suits and gowns, drinking bourbon and champagne and telling stories that he’d heard a dozen times before all over again while he smiled and nodded, schmoozed and charmed, all so that they’d write a check at the end of the night and maybe, just maybe, vote for him when the polling booths opened.

It was mind-numbing but if this was what it took to become the next Mayor of Knights Port, he would do it. He was going to be the youngest Mayor in the history of this great city. He was going to win that seat next month and it would be only the first in an assent that would lead him to the Senate and then, if he played his cards right, the White House.

He had everything it took to go the distance. Pedigree. Looks. Personality. He’d kept his nose clean and his closet empty of skeletons. He’d gone to the right schools and aced every test. He’d been trained from childhood to always say the right thing at the right time, to never let his mouth open before his brain had worked out what his audience needed to hear. He had every qualification and quality to be a fantastic politician and an even better leader… except one.

Henry was gay and openly gay politicians were about as common as openly gay fairytale princes.

Knights Port was a progressive place. Accepting. He’d never felt that he had to hide who he was here. He’d told his parents he was gay after he kissed his lab partner sophomore year of high school and realized it was way, way better than kissing his cheerleader girlfriend had ever been. They hadn’t seemed surprised. In fact, nobody in his life had seemed all that surprised. But as accepting as his family, his friends and even his city was, Henry knew that once he entered the national political stage that he would have to watch his back.

There were still small-minded, judgmental people in the world. A lot of them were the old white dudes in positions of power, the men that currently sat or had sat in the seats that he wanted to fill. So he played their games, played by their rules and didn’t dare step out of line.

One discretion. One misstep. That was all it would take for them to cast him out of the good ol’ boys club and if that happened he could kiss his dreams of breaking barriers and changing the future for the better goodbye.

So he didn’t date. He didn’t go out. He didn’t even flirt. He’d accepted the idea that in order to live his professional dream he would have to give up his personal life. It hadn’t seemed like all that much of a loss. His last serious relationship had ended years ago and though he experienced the occasional loneliness, he’d never met anyone that made him want to rethink his rules.

Until tonight.

The moment he’d seen the blond man in the simple black suit and tie, he’d felt a rush of desire hit him like a punch to the gut. Henry couldn’t explain it. The man wasn’t his usual type, not that he’d ever given his type much thought. If he had, he certainly wouldn’t have considered that he would be utterly captivated by a man that could well be ten years his junior from the looks of it, let alone with long, tangled blond hair and tattoos peeking from beneath a suit that didn’t fit his tall, thin, lithe frame all that well.

He’d caught Henry’s eye as soon as he came into the room. Henry had tried to tell himself that it was only because the boy looked so out of place. He wasn’t one of the trust-fund babies walking around in thousand-dollar suits. He wasn’t a face that Henry knew at all, but it was one he wanted to know. He’d given up his lie about only wondering who the man was hours ago because his curiosity had become downright fascination.

Despite his appearance, the boy moved through the crowd with an easy, confident assurance. More than once, Henry had tried to pin him down but each and every time he spotted that golden head of hair and started that direction, someone caught him and wanted to talk politics or business or God only knew what. Henry certainly didn’t know because he’d only been paying the bare amount of attention to his guests and their conversations as he searched the crowd for the elusive man who always seemed to disappear just before Henry reached him.

His brain said that his singular minded need to meet this man was insane. Reckless even. But he tried to soothe his more logical side by telling himself that once he met the man, the mystery would be gone. Surely, up close, he wasn’t as mesmerizing as he’d been across the room all night. Henry would meet him just long enough to figure out who he was and that would be enough.

It would have to be enough. It certainly couldn’t be more. Even if the way his stomach clenched at the mere sight of that blond head moving in the crowd below made him want more, want everything that he’d given up a chance at.

For What It’s Worth by S.M. James: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from For What It’s Worth

by S.M. James

A Sal’s party never disappoints. All the lanterns hung over the lawns glow orange, and smoke fills the air from the bonfire. Reya is cooking some type of spiced vegetables, and Gena, along with her twin brother Kyle, are playing folk music on the steps of St. Albian’s.

I recognize nearly everyone here; most are vendors, and a fair few people come from the local colleges, some I used to go to school with and some I do now. The atmosphere isn’t quite as relaxed as it normally is—there’s too much talking and not enough dancing and laughter. I wish I could have shown Justin what it’s normally like.

I grab some kombucha, and Rory and Justin go for the un-spiked punch. No one here has ever carded us in the past, but again Rory makes the smart choice. I don’t know what his dad said to him, and I’m torn between being glad they had that conversation and wondering how much it upset Rory for him to be set on going to school tomorrow.

“I was thinking next week …” Justin says to Rory as I tune in to their conversation.

“For what?” I ask.

“We’re going to drive up to Princeton,” Rory says. “You coming?”

“Which days?”

“Wednesday and Thursday. They’ve got a tour on.”

Thursday … Thursday … I groan. “I can’t. I’m getting the info for my major assessment that day.”

Justin kicks at the ground. “Damn, well, that’s okay … maybe I could see if there’s another one?”

“No, you’re not here for that much longer. You should go.” I sigh. “You guys are allowed to go places without me.” It sucks to be missing something like this, though. Because I want to be there for him.

“We know that.” Rory rolls his eyes. “But two’s boring—three’s a party.”

I snort and shove him a bit.

“If it helps, I’ll bet their tour is shit compared to yours,” Justin says.

I start to laugh. “I was so damn nervous that day.”

“Me too.”

We share a quick look, and I wonder if he felt it, even back then. The draw I seem to have toward him has been there almost since we met. If I’d been able to get around what I saw between him and Rory, I probably would have paid attention to him from the start.

“Come on, let’s go talk to people.”

Rory and I stick to our word and make sure we don’t leave Justin alone all night. He’s still hard to read, but he’s not shaking or blushing and is actually making conversation with people, so I’d say we’re good.

It’s a pretty cold night, but my wool-lined denim jacket is enough. Rory’s wearing a hoodie under a vest, but poor Justin’s sweater doesn’t seem to be helping, and the later it gets, the more his teeth start to knock together as he talks.

“Cold?”

“J-just a li-ittle.”

“Want to go?”

“N-no.” He shakes his head for emphasis.

“Rory, we’re heading to the fire.”

He nods under his hood. “Okay, I’m going to grab a vegetable kebab. Either of you want one?”

“Yep.”

Justin nods shakily.

“Both of us, please,” I say in case Rory missed it.

Rory ducks away, and I lead Justin over to one of the closest bonfires. He’s pulled his hands up inside his sleeves and crossed his arms.

“You going okay?”

He steps closer to the wall of warmth radiating from the fire, and his shoulders seem to relax. “Yeah. Just not used to the cold. Even out on the farm, winter is barely cold enough for more than jeans and a jacket.” His chin is still trembling as I step closer.

“You know … I’m big and cuddly. You could snuggle up to me for warmth.”

Justin doesn’t look at me, but the orange glow from the fire lights up the way his lips curl into a smile. “Oh yeah?” His eyes flick my way really quickly. “Why don’t you make me?”

My cheeks hurt from the force of my smile, but I step closer, not wanting to treat him with kid gloves but not wanting to overwhelm him either. Hooking one finger through his belt loop, I tug him closer, then slowly slide my hand across his back until my arm is wrapped loosely around his shoulders. Justin huddles into my side, and the temperature must win out against his hesitation because he slides one hand under my jacket and links his arm around my waist.

“Even though you only want me for my body heat, this is nice.”

He shakes his head against my chest. “That’s not the only reason.”

“Hmm … tell me more.”

“No way. Rory already has a big head—I don’t need you developing one too.”

I run my nose through his hair and give his shoulder a light pinch. “Careful, that’s my boyfriend you’re talking about.”

His body shakes lightly with the laughter he’s always trying to suppress. My hands run from his shoulder down to his arm as I pull him a little tighter, and … I frown, giving his very defined bicep a squeeze. “What is this?”

Justin squirms in my hold, turning his face down as Rory joins us.

That, Micah, is a sexy-as-fuck body that Justin hides away under those ugly oversized sweaters.”

“Oh my god,” he squeaks, and I don’t think I’ll ever get over how embarrassed he gets sometimes. Also, sexy-as-fuck body? What?

“How am I only hearing about this now?”

Rory hands over my kebab, and I grab the still warm stick left-handed, not willing to let Justin go yet. I squint at the chargrilled chunks of vegetables, identifying eggplant, tomato, and pumpkin.

“I mean,” Rory says, not quite meeting my eye. “I couldn’t exactly tell my new boyfriend all about the hot Aussie I’d made out with.”

“I’m glad you can now.” With both hands occupied, I lean forward and press a kiss to Rory’s forehead, wanting him to know it’s okay, it’s not weird. And okay, it’s kinda weird, but not awkward weird.

“Okay,” Justin sighs. “Now I’m getting a big head.”

Honorary Blogger Jacqueline Grey: Tricks and Bids + Excerpt & Giveaway!

What Do You Write?

by Jacqueline Grey

“How do you answer the question “Oh, you’re an author…what do you write?”

I have always been proud to declare that my dream was to become a published author, but once I became one, I found it difficult to answer the question “What do you write?”  I know there are people out there who look down on the romance genre (usually people who’ve never read it), and if I couldn’t gauge what a person’s reaction would be I became hesitant to admit that that was what I wrote.

As time has gone on, I have worked hard to break this habit.  I love romance. I have found some amazingly talented authors by reading romance, and I am proud of what I have accomplished within the genre so there is no reason why I should be shy about it.  I have also come to realize that there are times when it is my duty to spread the love of romance, gay romance in particular.

Last year I was interviewed about my book Ghost House.  During the interview, the interviewer told me she was surprised when she heard my name.  Jacqueline is very feminine. Having written a gay romance book, she hadn’t expected me to be so open about being a woman.  I suppose she’d been wondering if my being a woman would lessen the appeal of my book to gay men. I told her that many of the authors I knew who wrote in the gay romance genre were women.  So were many of the readers.

In fact, for years I have been reading shounen-ai and yaoi manga from Japan, my friends and I are currently devouring danmei novels from China, and I am exploring BL TV shows from Thailand and their related novels.  These things are all stories about male-male relationships and romance, and they are written by women and geared toward a female audience.

I truly believe we need #ownvoices stories and representation, but I also believe, especially in the current time period, that the world needs more happiness in general.  Romance, gay or not, should be read by everyone. It is the only place in the world where you are guaranteed a happy ending. Isn’t that something we all need in our lives?  I think that happiness is worth more than gold, and as romance authors, we are the suppliers of happiness. If that’s the case, then the next time someone asks me what I write I am going to tell them loud and proud.
