March Author Week + Giveaway Winner + Recap!

Well, now. Another Author Week is here! Woohoo!

Which author, you might ask?? Hmmmm… maybe we’ll keep it a secret and let you find out just who it is in a little bit…

Just kidding! We’re super excited to have L.A. Witt as our March Author! Yay!

We’ve got some great reviews scheduled for this week and even an awesome post by L.A. herself that we think some viewers will be ecstatic to read!

As always, we’ll still be posting regular reviews but if you haven’t read any of L.A.’s books yet, this will be a great week to pick up a book of hers ūüôā

Now, onto other news! Jen’s Challenge Week was a pretty good success! Here’s the breakdown of what was picked:

JustJen picked:

Shoes & Ties by Jena Wade for Heather C (3.5 stars)
Coming to Terms by A.R. Moler for Nikyta (4 stars)
Gangster Country by Kade Boehme for Susan65 (4 stars)

Voters’ Pick for JustJen:

Billy’s Bones by Jamie Fessenden (4.5 stars)

And for all those wondering (since we haven’t announced it yet), the winner of the poll we had to determine which book Heather C would be challenged to read in April was…. Texas Pride by Kindle Alexander, which had 75% of the votes! Amazing! Thank you for everyone who voted and we hope you’ll be looking forward to Heather’s review coming in a few weeks!blogger_bee_trans

Not only has our second Author Week come and gone but now the weekend has as well! And it’s been a busy one at that!

As February Author Week was dedicated to Heidi Cullinan, we had a few books we reviewed of hers not to mention a lovely post Heidi did for TBG and a giveaway of her re-released book, Double Blind. Here’s a quick breakdown for you if you missed them:

Double Blind reviewed by Nikyta
Let It Snow reviewed by Susan65
Love Lessons reviewed by Nikyta
A Private Gentleman reviewed by Heather C
The Wounds in the Walls reviewed by JustJen

Heidi acted as one of our Honorary Bloggers for a day and talked about Writing Las Vegas.

Also, for those who missed it, don’t forget that today is the last day to enter the giveaway for Double Blind. It’ll end at 11:59 pm EST TONIGHT so don‚Äôt forget to go to the giveaway post and comment with your email address to be put into the drawing.

Winner will be picked after the giveaway closes and announced tomorrow morning (Wednesday, February 26th, 2014).

Lastly, for the results of the poll! Second place went to Freedom by Jay Kirkpatrick with 25%, To Bite a Bear by Amber Kell received 24% of the votes and Lucifer’s Lunatic by Destiny Blaine & Marc Alice received 15% of the votes. February Author Week + Recap!

Well, now we’ve got a busy post today!

Last month we mentioned our desire to dedicate one week to a certain author each month. By mutual agreement, we all agreed that Heidi Cullinan would be February’s Author! Yay!

Since she is re-releasing the second book in her Special Delivery series,¬†Double Blind, this week, we thought it would be a great idea to pimp out a few of her other books at the same time ūüėÄ

In addition to our regular reviews, we’ll be having a giveaway and even a uniquely different type of review (which was totally Heidi’s idea and we aren’t afraid to admit it :P) so stick around for it all!

Now, with that out of the way, let’s talk about Challenge Week. We all enjoyed our picks (thanks Coug and the voters!) so it wasn’t too bad of a week! Here’s a quick recap of what was picked:

Susan65 picked:

Beyond Complicated by Mercy Celeste for Heather C (3.5 stars)
A Casual Weekend Thing by A.J. Thomas for JustJen (4 stars)
A Reason To Believe by Diana Copland for Nikyta (3 stars)

Voters’ Pick for Susan65:

The Fall by Kate Sherwood (4 stars)

Not a bad week, all in all! Keep a look out for a new poll coming out to help pick JustJen’s challenge book for next month!

Last but not least! Today is the last day to sign up for the giveaway to win an eBook copy of You Can See Me by A.E. Via!

The giveaway ends at 11:59 pm EST TONIGHT so don’t forget to go to the giveaway post and comment with your email address to be put into the drawing.

Winner will be picked after the giveaway closes and announced tomorrow morning (Monday, February 24, 2014).

So, don’t forget to sign up!

And good luck!

Mary Calmes Week Recap + Other Stuff

So, here we are at the end of another week… January went by so fast! It felt like just yesterday The Blogger Girls went live!

But now Mary Calmes Week is over ūüė¶ We hope everyone enjoyed what we had to offer. Here’s a quick recap on our Mary Calmes Week.

We had a total of 8 of Mary Calmes’ books reviewed:

Acrobat reviewed by Laura from The Tipsy Bibliophile
After the Sunset reviewed by Nikyta
Again reviewed by Susan65
Change of Heart guest reviewed by Gyn
Heart of the Race reviewed by Nikyta
Mine reviewed by JustJen
Old Loyalty, New Love reviewed by Nikyta
Steamroller reviewed by Heather C

Mary also donated an eBook copy of Old Loyalty, New Love for a giveaway, so don’t forget to enter that before it closes tonight! Winner will be announced tomorrow.

And we definitely can’t forget about the Q&A with Mary Calmes where she let us know her plans for this year and other fun stuff! Also, Nikyta let loose on her obsession of Mary Calmes books (yes, we realize she’s a tad crazy) but we love her anyway.

Overall, it was a great week. We had fun and we hope you had fun, too! Let us know what you thought of our first Author Week, though. Was it boring, fun, weird, annoying? Tell us how you really feel!

~The Blogger Girls

P.S. We also had a poll for Susan65’s challenge book for February and the winner was…. The Fall by Kate Sherwood! The Fall had 37% of the votes whereas His Client had 29%, Gangster Country had 24% and Dynasty of Ghosts had 11%.¬† (Don’t ask us why that equals 101% either, that is just what the poll results said!)

Susan65’s review for The Fall should go live within a few weeks so stick around for it! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Challenge Week Recap

Another week has come and gone *sigh*

Our first Challenge Week is now officially over and we are pleased to say that we were all able to finish our books and actually enjoyed them! Yay!

Now, we realize that Challenge Week probably isn’t that exciting for everyone, but for us it’s a special sort of pleasure being able to say “Nah nah nah nah, I told you so!” Okay, so only Nikyta can say that… and Heather… but the beauty of Challenge Week is that we can force each other to read that one book that’s been sitting on their TBR for months.

This Challenge Week went well because we all enjoyed our books (two of us even loved them!) and hopefully future Challenge Weeks have the same outcome. Anyway, with the rambling now over, here’s a recap on the four books that we were challenged to read:

Nikyta Picked:

The Nothingness of Ben by Brad Boney reviewed by JustJen (4.5 stars)
The Morning Star by M. Chandler reviewed by Heather C (4 stars)
Moon Called by Patricia Briggs reviewed by Susan65 (4 stars)

Voters’ Pick for Nikyta:

Widdershins by Jordan L. Hawk (4.5 stars)

We hope you enjoyed our first Challenge Week and if you want to challenge any of us to a book, give us a shout and we’ll definitely consider it!

For now, make sure you vote in our new poll that’ll help decide which book Susan65 has to read next month!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Young Adult Week Recap

Well, it is officially Saturday and the end of our first Theme Week is here. How did everyone enjoy our Young Adult reviews? Did they make you want to try the books out? Does it make you wanna see more Theme Weeks? If so, leave a comment below of what kind of themes and we’ll consider them ūüėČ

For any of you that missed them, here are the five reviews we had for our Young Adult week:

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Safe by C. Kennedy
Ash by Malinda Lo
Under the Bridge by R. Cooper
Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Some of us had a better experience than others but that’s the risk we take with books, isn’t it?

It was a week of firsts, though. First Theme Week, first giveaway winner, first poll, first cover reveal. A great week, all around and we hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.

Now, enjoy the rest of your weekend and for those in the States, have a great holiday ūüôā

Nikyta’s December Roundup

I’ve had amazingly good luck in the books I’ve picked to read lately. I don’t know if it’s because school has been out for winter break so I’ve been less stressed or because work isn’t as busy or maybe I’ve just really been picking some good ones but whatever it is I’ve been devouring books left and right.
