The Call – I’m Not Crazy, I’m a Writer!

by Sherilee Gray

So the fabulous Jen here at The Blogger Girls, invited me to share a little about myself and my journey to that wondrous, and what often feels like the most seriously allusive thing in the world, the publishing contract!

My journey, like most, started with a love of reading. The first romance I ever read, given to me by my awesome, romance loving sister, was a hot little novella by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I loved it. I devoured it and went back for more. It only took that one story and I was completely hooked on romance.

But eventually, after years of dreaming up my own stories and characters, I knew I wanted more. I wanted to write my own stories. I finally decided to try it for myself. Let’s just say my first writing attempts were not great, and after entering a competition with my not so shiny new novel, I discovered I had a lot to learn about the craft of writing. So first I had to go back to basics, and I mean basics. It’s been a long road from that first crappy ms to writing something an actual publisher thought was good enough to publish. But in all that time I never gave up, I never stopped working towards my goal.

When I received an email from Kate Cuthbert at Escape Publishing, close to five years after my first fumbled writing attempts, to say she wanted my story, I burst into tears. I’m lucky enough to have a supportive family who for some crazy reason, had faith in me and believed I could achieve my dream. And I’m happy to say it paid off! My first novella, Lone Wolf’s Captive, released today, March 1st!

LONE WOLF’S CAPTIVE

Shame over his choices and his lifestyle keep him from returning to the pack to claim Delaney — the woman who holds his heart. But when a rival pack hires him to kidnap her, Fletcher takes his chance. Now he must convince her that he never wanted to leave…and reveal a betrayal that will break her heart.

Delaney Jones has spent the last five years convinced the man she loves is dead. Nothing else would keep him from her. So when Fletcher shows up, whole, healthy, and very much alive, she’s devastated — and pissed off. He broke her heart once and he’s never going to get close enough to do it again.

Nikyta: I’ve been a fan of Ms. Donovan since before she published her first novel, Six Degrees of Lust, back in 2011. Which is why I’m so excited she agreed to let me reveal the cover to her (yet unannounced) upcoming release, Hearsay. Here’s a little taste of what it’s about… Continue reading

Stylist Frankie Blackburn never meant to get lost in Logan, Minnesota, but his malfunctioning GPS felt otherwise, and a record-breaking snowfall ensures he won’t be heading back to Minneapolis anytime soon. Being rescued by three sexy lumberjacks is fine as a fantasy, but in reality the biggest of the bears is awfully cranky and seems ready to gobble Frankie right up.

But as the northwinds blow and guards come down, Frankie and Marcus find they have a lot more in common than they don’t. Could the man who won’t live in the country and the man who won’t go back to the city truly find a home together? Because the longer it snows, the deeper they fall in love, and all they want for Christmas is each other.
