But he won’t let that stop him from the campus tour road trip that’ll help him become the next Anderson Cooper… even if his family insists he travel with a grumpy grizzly bear bodyguard.

Blurb: Kegan Tulach already knew that monsters were real. He’d faced them. Watched in horror as they killed those he loved. Then run from them. It was his response for the past two years. But now, on his twenty-first birthday, running wasn’t an option. He had no where to go. It was time for him to face his worst nightmare.

There weren’t many people who could do what Bjorn did. Fight monsters and live to tell the tale. It was a job thrust upon him as a kid. If he had known the true hell that would be cursed upon him, he would have preferred to die even though he’d only been fourteen at the time. Now, years later, he had hope that the curse would come to an end. The question was, would he choose the death he’d so desperately craved for more than a millennia, or would he do the one thing he swore he’d never do? Choose love.

If Kegan and Bjorn can find a way past their fears, they may discover something worth living for – each other.

This is a stand alone with an HEA, but reading the first book is recommended for full enjoyment.

Blurb:  One surly bear and one bunny boy…what could possibly go wrong?

Jagger Osterman is having a bad day. In fact, he’s not the slightest bit impressed with 2015 at all. His job is on the line, and it’s not like he loves being a marketing wunderkind, but he has to do something to pay the bills. If he had his way, he’d just vanish into the mountains and live out his life as the black bear he yearns to shift into. Unfortunately, Jagger doesn’t have the time to let his beast run. He has responsibilities that he can’t walk away from.

Kevin Kelly could tell Jagger a thing or two about bad days, bad years, and just out and out bad luck. He made the mistake of smarting off to a curandera years ago and hasn’t been able to shake the curse she put on him yet. There’s not an area of his life that hasn’t been screwed up in one way or another. As a pronghorn shifter, he’d be okay on his own in the wild. Sure, there’d be predators, but Kevin had come to realize the worst predators were the human kind.

But he can’t shift. He’s been solidly bound to human form since being cursed.

Two men, both trapped in their own ways. They’re about to find out that freedom comes in many forms.

Book Review: Kenai by Caitlin Ricci and A.J. Marcus

Heroes: Kenai/Derek
Genre: MM Paranormal
Length: 46 Pages
Publisher: Extasy Books
Release Date: December 8, 2015
Available at:  Amazon and Barnes & Noble
Add it to your shelf: Goodreads

Blurb:  Watchers aren’t supposed to get attached to the shifters they protect, but this mountain lion is getting tired of playing by the rules.

Watchers never get attached. Kenai has heard that rule all his life. He started his training as a small child and his mentor became his world. Now, at nineteen, he’s handling the shifters in the Pacific Northwest on his own. He only interferes with them when he has to—otherwise his life is spent alone. As a mountain lion shifter he doesn’t mind the solitude, but in his visions he sees shifters going off and having adventures, and he desperately wants one for himself. When he meets a bear shifter walking through the woods near his cabin, he’s all in and ready for whatever the bear wants to do.

Derek finds the overly energetic mountain lion annoying. He won’t stop bouncing around, and eventually he has to put Kenai in his place, which sends Kenai darting off. He does want some company though, so he follows Kenai’s trail back to his cabin and invites him to the salmon pools for a feast. He thought everyone knew what went on at those pools, so he’s surprised when Kenai reveals he’s a virgin. That isn’t the only secret this mountain lion is hiding, though, and when Derek finds out Kenai is a Watcher and practically a god to the shifters despite his young age, it might be more than he’s able to handle.

blogger_bee_trans

Review: Kenai is a watcher – a pre-cognitive shifter who arbitrates shifter problems. He’s been made to believe that he can only be a watcher if he lives his life alone.

When he has a dream (the way he gets all his arbitration information) about a bear and screams and salmon – he ends up following a bear shifter up to a salmon pond one day and they end up a couple.

He’s not sure what the screams mean but he’s worried about having a boyfriend.

**

I kind of feel like that was a bit of review Haiku. But that’s what the story felt like for me, too.

Kenai’s lonely. Then he meets someone. They like each other. Various shifter things happen. The end.

I can’t recommend this – though I really liked the premise of a watcher, and I love the idea that our little Kenai finally has a friend- it just didn’t do much for me. It was too all over the place, and I didn’t really get a good feel for Kenai’s bear mate, so I don’t know how’d they do as a couple.

Overall Impression:  It was okay, but not good

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for a fair and honest review.*

Blurb:  When Aedan disappeared six years ago, his boyfriend, Brody, was devastated. Now Aedan is back, and they both must face the secrets that once tore them apart.

On a tiny island off the coast of Washington, Brody has made a successful life for himself as a veterinarian. The highlight of his practice is when he’s able to help wild animals and rehab them to be released back to the wild. It’s a simple, quiet life, which is exactly what he needs to be able to piece himself back together after Aedan, the man he loves, disappeared six years earlier. He had given up hope of ever seeing Aedan alive again, until one night after an otter shows up on his doorstep, Aedan comes in to take the otter away. Even if Brody didn’t want to smack the sexy grin off his face, he still wouldn’t let Aedan just walk out with the otter. He’s responsible for its safety, and Aedan hasn’t given him nearly enough answers to make the past six years all better.

Aedan doesn’t have time to answer Brody’s questions though. He’s got bigger problems, primarily a clan of bear shifters who claim the otter, Aedan’s little brother, stole something from them. He lives in a dangerous world he never wanted Brody to be mixed up in, but it seems Brody can’t help but get into trouble all on his own. His brother invites danger, Brody stumbles into it, and Aedan just wants to keep them both safe without losing his mind.

First he has to catch a break long enough to try. Things just aren’t slowing down on the Jacek ranch. They’ve got a barn to rebuild, and their plan to get a pack of shifter wolves off their back doesn’t seem to be working.
