Ice by R.J. Scott and Chris Quinton: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from Ice

by R.J. Scott and Chris Quinton

There was no mention of the diamonds, but Greg read between the lines. All kinds of places to keep things safeimplied that Leon had hidden the diamonds. But had he managed to move them before he was killed? Had he told Boris about them? Or Julian, the owner of Laurels?

More research had uncovered the fire at Laurels, the ongoing renovations, and given Greg a possible entry to the site. Marie LaSalle and Mack had come through with enough to support his backstory, and Greg was supremely confident no one would find a flaw in his references, or the photos of his work, or the restored screens. They, at least, were genuine.

The last link to the jewels—finding the Mandineaus and their restaurant—had fallen into Greg’s lap, and he had flown into a foggy Heathrow with a plan of action, the tools, notes, the letters, and a whole lot of hope that he would find what he wanted.

His alarm sounded and he glanced at the time out of habit. Seven fifteen.

He gathered up the information and stuffed it back in the suitcase, then left the hotel. He’d get coffee and breakfast at the Laurels, or so he’d been promised, and then he could settle into work and use every minute available to track down the diamonds.

Easy.

Well it would be easy if only Jon wasn’t there messing with Greg’s head, all gorgeous and growly and big.

Focus. Just focus. Diamonds. Always the treasure.

About Ice

28550515With millions in diamonds at stake, can Jon make Greg see that some things are not worth dying for?

Footloose adventurer Greg Drakowski used to live for the moment but these days shadows of grief and guilt cling to him. Recklessly following one lead to the next, Greg crosses oceans at the very hint of treasure, and doesn’t care that he rushes into danger.

This time his quarry is a cache of diamonds, hidden away decades ago. When the clues bring him to the ancient city of Salisbury, he knows he’s close to success.

Renovations expert Jonathan Ellis is part of Ageless Wood Restorations – three generations of knowledge and trade. Focused and hard-working, Jon finds value in recreating the elegance of the past with his own hands, and it will take something – or someone – extraordinary to break into his enclosed world.

When Greg drops into Jon’s lap he finds it impossible to refuse him. Even when the bad guy appears and Jon isn’t sure whom he can trust, he knows he has to stand by Greg, if only to save the idiot from himself.

About the Authors

Chris Quinton started creating stories not long after she mastered joined-up writing, somewhat to the bemusement of her parents and her English teachers. But she received plenty of encouragement. Her dad gave her an already old Everest typewriter when she was ten, and it was probably the best gift she’d ever received – until the inventions of the home-computer and the worldwide web.

Chris’s reading and writing interests range from historical, mystery, and paranormal, to science-fiction and fantasy, writing mostly in the male/male genre. She refuses to be pigeon-holed and intends to uphold the long and honourable tradition of the Eccentric Brit to the best of her ability. In her spare time [hah!] she reads, embroiders, quilts and knits. Over the years she has been a stable lad [briefly] in a local racing stable and stud, a part-time and unpaid amateur archaeologist, a civilian clerk at her local police station and a 15th century re-enactor.

She lives in a small and ancient city in the south-west of the United Kingdom, sharing her usually chaotic home with an extended family, three dogs, a frilled dragon [lizard] and sundry goldfish and tropicals.

Find out more about Chris on her Website, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Goodreads, LibraryThing or email her at chris.quintonwriter@ymail.com.

Blurb:  It’s not easy being a superhero. Sometimes it’s even harder when you’re super and queer. In Out for a Hero, LGBTQ heroes find themselves in tight spaces, moral quandaries, and sometimes heated romance.

In The Integrals, Kaveri, the daughter of two super dads, struggles to conceal her possibly criminal crush. But when Morning Glory clashes with her parents’ team, she has to decide how to work with her own developing powers to save the day, and her girl.

Sparks highlights the complications of an after-hours club where both superheroes and villains go to mingle. When Ignition meets Fusion, the leader of a supervillain group, she’s forced to dig deeper into the group’s activities to discover just who’s being wronged.

Patrick has a reluctant grasp on his own gift of fire extinguishing, and he recalls the day it took his lover, Victor, away in Firebreak. As he tells the story to Nissa, clues emerge that indicate that Victor might not be so lost after all.

In DVDRW, a hero with the ability to rewind and replay time falls in passionate love, or lust, with Michael, a normal human with bad connections. What starts as fixing horse races escalates into military exercises, until it’s almost too late to back out.

The hero of Pedal to the Mettle finds that transitioning is hard enough, but doing it when you’re a super-powered alien brings a whole set of troubles, until Floyd, another alien who just wants to go back home, makes him an offer he can’t refuse.

Lastly, in A Memory of Wind, Yeni investigates the secret of missing passengers and empty quarters on the starship that is her home. Her search for answers leads her to Wind, a flying woman who can help her learn what she needs to know.
