Meik&Sebastian – Obsessed #4 by Quin Perin: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from Meik & Sebastian

by Quin Perin

“You know, my mom was saying she thinks you’re a bad influence on me.” Gabe took a swig from the can of beer clutched in his slender hand, nose crinkling in distaste. “She was joking, but you know, she wasn’t wrong.”

Meik laughed, glancing up at him. “You love it. Admit it.”

They were stretched out on a rumpled blanket in the backyard of Meik’s parent’s house, Gabe sitting up while Meik lay back. His mom was on vacation with her friends, and his father had ditched him in favor of spending the night with his mistress. Gabe had rushed over the moment school ended. Meik had skipped and, with the help of some of his older friends, gotten a case of beer for them. Not necessarily romantic, but it would do.

“Mm. Maybe I do,” Gabe agreed. “You know what I don’t love?”

“Spiders, bees, shag carpeting, pine trees, peas, bananas…” Meik listed everything he knew his boyfriend didn’t like.

Gabe snorted, reaching out and smacking his arm. “Stop that. You know that’s not at all what I meant.”

Meik’s grin was cheeky. “What don’t you love then?”

“Beer.” Gabe sighed, taking another sip. “It’s really fucking gross.”

“You’ve drunk like three whole cans!” Meik pushed onto his elbows, head spinning from the fourth can he’d finished off.

“Well”—Gabe giggled—“I’m a teenager, I’m supposed to be into underage drinking. I’m living up to expectations.”

“God, maybe you’re a bad influence on me.” Meik chuckled.

A wide grin crossed Gabe’s flushed face. “Oh, you fucking know it.” He giggled again, hand pressing into the blanket as he turned to the side. Ducking his head, Gabe connected their lips in a kiss tasting of cheap beer.

Gabe swayed as they kissed, arm soon giving way and sending his thin body crashing into Meik’s chest. His tipsiness caused him to fall back against the blanket on his back. As their bodies tumbled together, Gabe spilled the lukewarm beer all over Meik. “Oops!” Gabe laughed, untangling himself. “Sorry, Meik.”

“You sure don’t sound sorry,” Meik scoffed, tugging his wet shirt away from his stomach.

He pretended to be stern and upset, but Gabe was such a cute drunk. It was way too hard to be mad at him. His tipsy boyfriend tossed the now empty can behind him before flopping onto his stomach. He buried his face into the blanket, turning his head so he could peek at Meik. “Cuz I’m not really sorry,” he admitted in a murmur, dark curls bouncing with laughter.

“Rude!” Meik pushed himself off of the blanket, moving onto his knees.

Gabe hid his face away, muffling his mirth. His body shook, perky little ass wiggling as he shifted his hips. Wicked thoughts blossomed into sudden action. One of Meik’s large hand came down, slapping hard over Gabe’s ass. His hips jerked forward, whole body tensing. “Oh!” Gabe gasped.

Tense silence spread between them, Meik’s blue eyes turning to his tingling hand. Shit! What had he done? Apologies rushed from his mouth, tripping over his tongue. “Oh God. Gabe—Shit. I didn’t…fuck. I’m so, so sorry.”

Gabe peeked over his shoulder. Eyes wide, cheeks even redder than before. “Do it again?” His voice so soft Meik was sure he’d misheard.

The Fruit of the Poisonous Tree by Selina Kray

When will She open Rebecca Northcote’s box?

The Daughters’ goodwill toward London’s fallen women has given them a saintly reputation, but Hiero has a nose for sniffing out a fraud. He will need to draw on some divine inspiration to rattle the pious Daughters.

Hidden Depths by L.M. Brown: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from Hidden Depths

by L.M. Brown

Jake had no idea what to do as everyone craned to see what Doug was shouting about.

“Mermen?” Bill asked. “Is Kyle in the water already? Good lad.”

Jake doubted he would be so delighted when he discovered Kyle’s custom-made tail was still in the changing room.

Natalie grabbed Jake’s arm and pulled him away from the crowd. “Is it true?”

Jake rolled his eyes. “Doug’s just playing along for the show.”

Natalie snorted. “Doug barely pulls his weight at work. I doubt he’d do anything of the sort. Now, tell me the truth.”

Jake gave a small nod.

“I knewKyle was holding his breath too long for a human when he swam in the tank. He almost beat the world record and he didn’t seem to be struggling at that.”

“Can you help them?” Jake asked.

“By doing what?” Natalie replied. “This is a great opportunity for us.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, until now, we’ve had Kyle playing the part of a merman, complete with his fake fins. Now we can show the world real mermen. Imagine how many visitors we’ll have when word gets out.”

Jake glared at the woman he had foolishly trusted with his lovers’ secret. He put it down to his panic and hoped he could repair the damage. “Kyle and Finn are notexhibits in your aquarium.”

“I don’t think you’re seeing the possibilities.”

Jake pushed her aside and ran to the far end of the boat. Thankfully, she didn’t follow. “Medina!” he screamed, hoping she heard him at such a vital moment.

The goddess appeared before him and smiled. “What has you so frantic?”

“Kyle and Finn are exposed.” Jake pointed at the crowd behind him. “You have to do something. Please, can you wipe everyone’s memories or something?”

Medina frowned. “I don’t have that sort of power, not anymore anyway.”

“What do you mean?”

“Before the Atlanteans were banished, I could have done what you ask. I had priests, devoted to me and me alone, and their loyalty fed my powers. Now I am but a shadow of the goddess I used to be.”

“Isn’t there anything you can do?”

Medina shook her head and Jake’s heart fell.

“Wait… There might be one way,” Medina said. “You could become my priest.”

“But Kyle and Finn… I can’t leave them. They need me.”

“Of course they do. Becoming my priest isn’t like your modern kind. You can stay with your lovers and carry on as before. You’ll just be something more than you are now.”

“More?”

“Those powers you struggle to deal with would be amplified,” Medina explained. “And you’ll have to make an offering at one of my temples. A proper offering, not perfume and flowers.”

“What sort of offering?”

“You’ll need to prove you know what love is.”

“That’s all?”

Medina smiled. “It might sound easy, but I think you’ll find it harder than you think. So, Jake, do you accept my offer?”

“And if I do, you’ll be able to undo what’s happened?”

“Faster than you can blink.”

“Then I accept.”

The Werewolf on Lowre Few Lane by Bryce Bentley-Tales: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from The Werewolf on Lowre Few Lane

by Bryce Bentley-Tales

“I ROTATED THE zoom dial on my binoculars. The three-story stone house loomed large in my view.

Jade whispered behind me, “Colton, what’d you see?”

“Shhh.”

I surveyed the gloomy home from side to side. The house sat on the crest of a small hill and far from the cobbled street where I crouched. Spidery cracks filled a couple of the second-story windows. The paint had faded and peeled, and the rooftop sections were missing shingles. It had to be one of the oldest residences in Arklow.

“Colton,” Jade said, tapping my shoulder.

“Jade, you’re breaking me concentration.”

Huddled near the stone column at the end of the winding driveway, I inched around the base a bit farther to get a better look. A light, cool breeze blew, swaying the sea of tall weeds in the house’s lawn and filling my nose with the scent of dogs.

Deep, guttural barks erupted behind me. Startled, I whirled before realizing that the noise was just Jade’s ringtone. I glared while she squatted close to the curb, frantically patting the outside of her lightweight jacket in search of her phone.

“Are you a complete tool? Turn the blimey thing off.”

“Jade glanced up, her eyes wide. “Can’t find it.” Then she straightened, grinned at me, and said, “Found it.” She removed the phone from a side pocket, and the barking grew in volume. Brushing her lengthy brown hair from her face, she stared at the caller ID. “Oh…it’s me mum.”

“Shut it off! All of Ireland will know we’re here!”

She didn’t move but held the smartphone in both palms. The phone quit ringing finally, and she sighed. “I should go. It’s probably suppertime.”

“You can’t. This was your idea.”

A loud clanging echoed across the yard, and we both cowered behind the stone fence post. Adjacent to the old post, a crumbling stone wall shielded us from anyone standing by the house. When I poked my head around the ledge, nothing but the motionless tall weeds could be seen in the yard and the same gloomy look the house had had before. It was dead quiet.

Jade put her hands on my shoulders, her mouth next to my ear. “S-see, I told you. You believe me now? It’s haunted.”

I tried to speak, but my mouth was dry. I brought my binoculars up, gripping them hard.

“Probably just varmint inside,” I said.

“Aye. And maybe you and your butterfingers could be captain of the rugby team.”

“Har-har. You think the Kennedy twins really disappeared inside?”

Honorary Blogger T.A. Moore: Five Facts About James + Giveaway!

Honorary_Blogger_Post

Five Facts About James

by T.A. Moore

First of all, thank you so much for having me! I’m thrilled to be here with my stand-alone contemporary suspense Every Other Weekend. Every now and again an author (or at least THIS author) gets characters who drop fully formed and already opinionated into your brain. It happened with my Digging up Bones series, and again with Clayton and Kelly (and Baker, who was so much to write for that he has to get an honourable mention) in this book. Trust me, this was originally meant to be a much sillier book. There were hijinks planned, but Clayton almost immediately established he wasn’t into the ‘jinks.

Anyhow, I thought that since I loved these guys so much? You guys might like to learn a few important bits and pieces about them. Today? James, the soon-to-be-ex that Clayton is helping his client get rid off.

Five Facts about James

  1. James met his wife, Nadine, when she was a waitress in a local bar, one of the dozens of pretty blondes who’d were on the verge of aging out of the big break slot. She’d agreed to go out with his friend, so James set out to win over to…prove he could. He was charming and fun, silly sometimes, and it won her over. Once he did, he sent photos of her naked to his jilted friend. ‘Accident,’ he claimed. ‘Still, stop him sniffing around right?’
  2. He never wanted kids, but once she got pregnant he never pushed for an abortion. Talked to her for three days about what a disaster it would be for them to have a kid now, like for fucksake it would be an anchor around their neck, and left her an envelope of cash for ‘whatever she decided’. Once Nadine said he wanted the baby though, he let it go. Took the money back, though.
  3. Although James was never particularly interested in his son when Harry was a baby, there was a period when he was a toddler that James was really enamoured of him. It wore off as Harry got older and wasn’t exactly the son that James wanted.
  4. Sometimes he tells a lot of lies. He justifies this to himself, as much as he justifies anything, by the fact Nadine never asks about them. If she really wanted the truth, after all, she’d pry more.
  5. He doesn’t think he’s a bad guy.

One Step Back by Edie Danford

When you fall for a guy who’s about to become your stepbrother—do you listen to your heart and risk everything? Or listen to your head…and take one step back?

In high school I had a hundred reasons to steer clear of my soon-to-be-stepbrother, Joe Beneventi. He was a hothead, and I was reserved. His life was football, mine was academics. He wanted to be out and proud, and I desperately needed to keep my orientation secret.

But when we fell in love, my heart took the wheel, and I took every risk to be with Joe. Then one horrible night our secrets shattered. Joe disappeared—wrecking our families and breaking my heart.

Eleven years later, I landed a challenging job at a premier PR firm. And the hotshot publicist who’s been assigned to my first big account? Yep. It’s Joe.

Fate truly hates me because now Joe and I have three days to hole up in a Chicago hotel room and nail down a deal that could make or break our careers. He keeps distracting me, but I’m too jaded to fall for sexy smiles, bedroom eyes, and his impossible-to-ignore body. Except…

I like being close to him again. A little too much. Working together 24/7 is showing me sides of Joe I’ve never seen before.

And when we touch, being together seems like the only step worth taking.
