Heavens Aground by G.R. Lyons

Ryley Skye can’t take anything seriously. Not the murder scenes he investigates, nor the fact that he’s cheating on his boyfriend. Not the bloody nightmares he gets every other night, and especially not Vic’s ridiculous theory that Ryley might be a mage.

Character Interview With the Parents from A Tangled Legacy by Mickie B. Ashling + Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Character_Interview copy

Hi all! Mickie B. Ashling here. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to stop by and share an excerpt of my newest release, A Tangled Legacy. The idea for this novel started after I finished the prequel, Once Upon A Mattress, which was included in the Once Upon A Rainbow Anthology, Volume I. It was my first foray into the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre, and I had so much fun I decided to write a longer piece. Although A Tangled Legacy is technically a sequel, I consider it to be a spinoff, and it can definitely be read as a standalone. The good news for those who are interested in reading the short story is that my wonderful publisher has decided to include it as bonus content if you purchase the paperback of A Tangled Legacy.

Now stick around with an interview with the parents – Errol, The Duke of Maitland, and His Royal Highness, Prince Sebastian (Bash)!

blogger_bee_trans

Mickie: Your highness, thank you taking the time to see me. How does it feel to be celebrating twenty-five years of marital bliss?

Bash: It seems like yesterday when Errol and I were walking down the aisle.

Errol: Bash, ye ken old people are the ones who start sentences with ‘It seems like yesterday.’

Bash: Aren’t you feeling your age when you see grownup Colin?

Errol: Aye, but I’m happy to be alive.

Bash: Well, there’s that, of course. And you wouldn’t be sitting here in the peak of health if I hadn’t insisted you quit smoking.

Errol: Rest on your laurels and stop the infernal bragging.

Bash: Do you mean nagging?

Errol: That goes without saying.

Bash: Sorry, Mickie. I didn’t mean to derail the conversation. Please proceed.

Mickie: I understand there have been some developments in Prince Colin’s personal life.

Errol: Our lad is getting married soon.

Bash: Not for another year, Errol. A lot can change in twelve months.

Mickie: Are you anticipating any problems, your highness?

Bash: Life is unpredictable. Just because Colin is next in line doesn’t mean he’s immune to the ups and downs of relationships.

Mickie: Surely he’s got better odds with such a distinguished fiancé. Alain de Gris has a stellar reputation, and I understand he’s extremely devoted to Prince Colin.

Errol: Aye, Alain is a good man. But there’s the operative word, ye ken. He’s unable to bear the requisite heir.

Mickie: I see.

Bash: I’m glad somebody does! Alain and Colin are convinced they’ll change the law of the land and have a child via surrogate.

Mickie: That seems to be a sensible plan.

Bash: It’s never been done before.

Errol: That doesn’t mean it can’t be done now.

Bash: As much as I love my son, and want him to have a shot at happiness, he has to face facts.

Errol: Colin has never met a challenge he can’t overcome.

Bash: You are aiding and abetting by encouraging him to dream.

Errol: Wasn’t it Ghandi who said “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Bash: Do you see what I’m up against, Mickie? The same stubborn streak that runs through the duke is firmly entrenched in Prince Colin. They’ll drive me to drink.

Errol: If you would stop thinking like establishment, and join Alain and Colin’s campaign for reform, you might be less miserable.

Bash: I am the establishment!

Errol: Precisely. Stuck in your ways like an octogenarian instead of a man in his prime.

Bash: How dare you!

Errol: I’m the only one who can talk any sense into you. Get on board or nurse your ulcer until you bleed out.

Mickie: It seems like I’ve brought up a sore subject. Why don’t we talk about something more entertaining like the upcoming masquerade ball?

Bash: Sounds like a good idea.

Circle of Trust by Nicholas Bella & Aimee Nicole Walker: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from Circle of Trust

by Nicholas Bella & Aimee Nicole Walker

“I’m coming with you,” Christian said, rising from his chair right after I did.

I looked at him, contemplating if it would be wise. I mean, my Sovereign demanded I bring him in. My best bet to avoid having to do so was claiming I couldn’t find him or get to him, at least, thanks to his warded home. The fact that I was currently standing inside his home didn’t have to be known to Nero.

“I don’t need you to come with me,” I said.

“Well, I’m coming anyway.”

“No!” I snapped, my hand out toward him as if the motion itself could stop him.

“Lorcán, we made a deal that we’re going to solve this case together. That can’t happen if you’re going to try to sideline me. I need to see this vampire just as much as you do.”

“After I—”

“No, together, not after you see it first,” Christian said, putting his foot down.

There was something about his assertiveness at this moment that spoke to every part of me that wanted him. I felt a spark ignite inside of me, heating my blood to a boiling point, and it took all of my reserve not to slam him down on the table, snatch his pants down, and ride him until the legs literally broke off the old redwood table.

I had to clear my mind—reluctantly so—of the image of his chest heaving as he huffed and puffed, panting in pleasure. Pleasure only I could give him. Yeah, tearing myself away from those thoughts was a challenge but putting his life first made it easier.

“I can’t take you with me, Christian,” I said finally.

“Want to tell me why not?” Christian asked, his arms crossing over his massive, muscular chest. “Something is going on with you. What is it?”

Do I tell him that my king wants him? Shit. “I’ll tell you later. Just for now, I need to handle this alone. I promise, I’ll tell you. For now, lower the wards.”

“I should keep them up until you tell me the truth,” he stated.

“Do you trust me?” I asked him. We studied each other for several seconds, and I saw him exhale before he nodded. He said something in a language I didn’t recognize, which was rare. I felt an electric charge flow through the atmosphere, and I knew the wards had been lowered so I could leave.

I didn’t give him a chance to prod me further. Using my vampire speed, I ran out of his house. I knew he’d never be able to catch up to me because he didn’t even see me move. Hunters had great skills, but even to his trained eyes, it would have looked like I’d vanished, rather than just ran really fast. I was quickly in my car, pulling off, and roaring down the street toward the location of the most recent kill.

Cover Reveal: In This Iron Ground by Marina Vivancos + Giveaway!

In This Iron Ground

by Marina Vivancos

Damien is nine years old when his parents die. He goes into foster care, seven jumps and seven houses and seven families by the time he’s thirteen. He learns what words like ‘exhausting’ and ‘I can’t do this anymore’ really mean.

Then, he’s taken in by the McKenzies.

The McKenzies can see there’s something wrong with him. They try to fix him, but Damien isn’t sure if it’s making him better. All he knows is that he feels worse.

People say that that the moon has a call that even people can feel. In the wash of their blood and tide of their soul, they can hear it calling. Maybe that’s what makes Damien run through the forest on a full moon night, trying to escape what awaits him at the McKenzies. He wants to lose himself in the green and the silver, disappear into the black. Instead, he’s found.

The Salgado family have been part of the town for as long as anybody can remember. Their Native American roots are anchored deep into the ground, and Damien has seen the Salgado children in his school. Koko, who is in his class, and Hakan, two years older and infinitely unreachable. Damien is too much of a loser to ever have anything to do with either of them, until that full moon night reveals that the Salgados are not only a family. They are a pack.

Damien is suddenly introduced into a world that had only ever existed in his imagination, where there is magic in the forest and the moon, in the earth under his feet. He meets creatures that look like monsters, but Damien knows what monsters look like. They have the same face as anybody else.

The Salgados welcome Damien in a way he never would have expected. Damien and Hakan grow closer, first into friendship, and then into something heated and breathless as they end up in the same university together. But, Damien knows, deep down in that bruised and mealy part of his core, that he’s not good enough to be part of their family. He’s not worthy of calling Hakan his home.

Damien is used to losing things, but he’ll hold onto this for as long as he can.

Honorary Blogger TA Moore: The Boutique + Giveaway!

Honorary_Blogger_Post

Thanks so much for having me! Wanted-Bad Boyfriend is a contemporary M/M romance set on Ceremony, a small, English island that’s made romance into a cottage industry. Of course, the other thing that small island communities excel at is gossip…and Ceremony is no different. Especially when they have such fertile fodder as Nate and Flynn, the main characters of Wanted-Bad Boyfriend.

Read on for a little something extra to give you a taste of what you can look forward to 🙂

The Boutique

by TA Moore

The bride’s cousin stood on her tiptoes in changing room and twisted to check out her reflection in the cross-angled mirrors. The pale green dress fit her like a second skin and bared her arms and about two-thirds of her legs. She pursed her dark, matte-red lips and looked at her companion as she raised a plucked, perfectly brow expectantly.

He tilted his head and tabbed his finger to his lip. “Just a little bit…” He pinched his fingers and mimed tugging the hem of the dress up a few inches.

Dani mentally shifted the woman’s price-point a few pounds higher to deal with the aggravation. She didn’t let it show on her face, of course. The boutique did well enough off mothers of the brides and guests who’d under-estimated the tone of the wedding, but the real money came when spurned exes and jealous family members tried to out-shine the bride.

“I’ve got just the dress,” she said. “The minute I saw you I thought of it, but I thought it might be too daring.”

The bride’s cousin laughed and tossed her hair, one hand propped on her hip. “Oh, trust me, never too daring for me.”

While her client ducked back into the curtained off booth, Dani stepped out into the shop and grabbed a few dresses at random. Silk and brocade and glitter-sewn fabric rustled against each other as she draped it over her arm.

“The wedding co-ordinator is a dish,” the cousin said, her voice muffled as she pulled the dress over her head. “Do you think Katie has a thing with him?”

“More likely it’d be Bradley,” her friend drawled. He leaned over and topped up his glance of wine. “He’s more up my street.”

The cousin made a rude noise. “You don’t know that.”

“Oh he’s right,” Dani said. She clicked her way over and slipped the dress collection through the curtain. A tug settled the edges of the velvet back in place. “Nathan’s gay. Believe me, I know. We went to school together.”

The cousin laughed. There was a hint of something cruel in, Dani would know, she’d practiced to slide in a dig before this girl had been born.

“Did he turn you down?”

Dani laughed. “Oh no, he was never my type. He looked thirty at fourteen with that hair,” she said. “I was the one who told him he was gay. Poor boy had no idea until I pointed it out for him.”

“I’m sure he appreciated that,” the companion drawled over a glass of wine. Dani glanced at him and he smiled back blandly.

“Well,” Dani said. “It’s not like he’s ever been particularly good at it. His mother has to find him his dates, or he takes his best friend’s leftovers.”

“But he’s so cute,” the young man protested. “I would. On Tuesdays.”

“You’re my date!” the cousin protested as she stuck her head through the curtain to glare.

“Not on Tuesdays.”

She huffed at him and came out in glossy, flapper style confection of peacock and feathers. Whatever face her friend — date — pulled made her turn on her feel and retreat immediately.

“Oh, he looks the part,” Dani said. “He’s just got ideas above his station. The Baronet was always kind to him — Nate was best friends with his son — and Nate got the idea he was…cut the same cloth. Nobody is good enough for him. He’s turned down every gay man on the island”

The cousin made a dismissive noise. Conversation had obviously strayed from her for as long as she was willing to tolerate.

“Oh, this is it,” she said as she spun out in a pale pink suede short and top. Continue reading
