Blurb: Some things are sweeter than revenge.

“I need a boyfriend.”

Hearing those words from his very straight, very ex-best friend doesn’t put Nate in a helpful mood. Not only did Kellan Brooks’s father destroy Nate’s family in his quest for power, but Kellan broke Nate’s heart back in high school. Nate thought he could trust his best friend with the revelation that he might be gay, only to find out he was horribly wrong and become the laughingstock of the whole school. Kellan must be truly desperate if he’s turning to Nate now.

Kellan’s through letting his father run his life, and he wants to make the man pay for cutting him off. What better way to stick it to the bigot than to come out as gay himself—especially with the son of the very man his father crushed on his quest for money and power. Kellan can’t blame Nate for wanting nothing to do with him, though. Kellan will have to convince him to play along, but it’s even harder to convince himself that the heat between them is only an act…. Continue reading

He’s taken a job in a village primary school to make a fresh start, and love isn’t part of his plans. But then he’s knocked for six – literally – by a chance encounter with the uncle of two of his pupils.

Sean Grant works in pest control, lives on a council estate, and rides a motorbike. Robert is an ex-public schoolboy from a posh family who drives a classic car. On the face of it, they shouldn’t have anything in common. Yet Robert can’t resist Sean’s roguish grin, and passion sparks between them even after an excruciatingly embarrassing first date.

Too bad the past Robert’s hiding from is about to come looking for him. His increasingly ludicrous efforts to keep his secrets are pushing Sean away – but telling the truth could make Sean leave him for good.

An Exclusive Excerpt from P.O.W.

Roughly, Stone was taken by his upper arms and led into a building. The sudden warmth of being inside shocked his system; he became acutely aware of how cold he’d been. His body started shivering uncontrollably, his teeth clamping down hard on the gag, making the muscles in his jaw stand out, aching.

Without warning, he was shoved face first into a wall. The noose around his neck was loosened, then taken off, and the hood removed. Stone was shoved hard back into the wall, its rough texture scratching his cheek. What was obviously the barrel of a gun was placed to the back of his head, and something said in Arabic. A few moments later, the bindings around his wrists were undone, making his hands tingle with the rush of blood, further proof of how cold he’d actually been.

The light was dim in what looked to be a narrow hallway, with no apparent windows. The gun still pressed into the back of Stone’s head. His shivering body betrayed him, causing the coarseness of the wall to scrape the chapped skin on his cheek, rubbing away the skin.

Still forced against the wall, Stone was stripped naked, the cold once again seeping into the very center of his being. He was brusquely pushed along the dirt floor of the hall, and outside, into a courtyard of sorts. There was a light snow falling, and the cold hit his naked, exposed skin like needles. It was only when Stone saw three other men, Taliban, standing there that he began to get a sinking feeling deep in his gut.

They strung Stone up on a frame that reminded him of a swing set he’d had as a kid. A burst of pain went off in his head as they stretched his arms above his head, stretching the broken ribs. Then there was even more pain when his legs were stretched, then tied to the base of the frame. Stone was stretched tight, spread-eagle, naked, shivering in the cold. There was no sign of Benoit.

A skinny kid, no more than eighteen, slowly walked towards the naked, spread-eagle Stone with an evil grin. Picking up a bucket, he threw water into the Marine’s face. The water was freezing, and after the initial shock, the cold air made Stone’s wet body shiver uncontrollably. The muscles in his jaw were cramping from biting down on the dirty gag so hard, but the rag kept his teeth from chattering.

The kid did this over and over, waiting between each bucketful to let Stone feel the full effect. He could feel his body temperature drop with each subsequent dowsing. His nipples had pulled up so tight and hard he felt as though he could have cut diamonds with them. The pain in his side from the broken ribs had become a dull ache, and he recognized the feeling of his body starting to go into shock.

The other men were cheering the kid on each time the tortured American was doused, feeding off each other like a pack of wild dogs. When Stone felt himself about to black out, he got a hard punch in the gut, making his side scream in pain, bringing him wide awake again. This went on and on and on, with no end in sight.

Honorary Blogger Z.A. Maxfield: Vampire Novels Revamped + Excerpt & Giveaway!

Honorary_Blogger_Post

Vampire Novels Revamped

by Z.A. Maxfield

Hi! I’m Z.A. Maxfield, better known as ZAM. Many thanks to The Blogger Girls for helping me celebrate my latest release, Deep Desire, book one of The Deep Series.

One of the most delicious aspects of writing Notturno, the book that has now been reprinted as Deep Desire, was creating the excerpts of the priceless, centuries old manuscript that becomes the prize in a battle of wits between document expert Adin Tredeger and vampire Donte Fedelta.

Donte used the journal to record his private thoughts about his boyhood lover, the angelic, innocent young Auselmo. When writing those, I took my cue from letters written in history by famous lovers, gay and straight, and I tried to give them a ring of authenticity, but also to make them accessible to 21st century romance readers.

Here’s one such excerpt, exclusively here:

I am in the snow today, my Auselmo, its whiteness and silence like the death I feel when you are not within my reach. Today I have chosen to draw the journey home to take my place after my brothers died. Do you recall? I know you must. We endured the ride and the endless chattering of the women, playing word games and kissing with our eyes. I remember seeing you ride your horse, the stubborn one I always called Affligere for the way it chased you and stole your hats. We slipped away in the night and clumsily tugged each other into spending.

The way you kissed me…

There were more stars in the sky that summer, Auselmo, because you placed them there for me every time you smiled. The closer we got to San Sepolcro, and home, the sicker I felt in the pit of my stomach.

I knew then, as you know now, that our life together—those pleasant idylls in the herb gardens of the monastery—was over. My family had a woman waiting for me. She was older, promised originally to my brother, who passed. I couldn’t bear to tell you, to see the stars in the sky wink out one by one with your unhappiness. Forgive me, Auselmo.

That was when I noticed the guard, the dark one with the scar over his eye, watching us. In return, I watched him, and one night got an eyeful of the most amazing thing I’d ever seen. I never told you, love, but I paid him for information, and he let me watch him with his lover. The things they did with their bodies both appalled and inflamed me, and I knew—I thought I knew—that if I could have one night like that with you, I would go to Renata and my family uncomplaining.

Was I ever that foolish? Please, my lover, never answer that, for you, with your beauty and your innocence, could never have understood my dark desire for you in those days.

These books have been edited. They’ve been retitled. There are new, cool covers. They’ll be available simultaneously in ebook and print.

Vampire novels. Revamped.

About Deep Desire

There’s no leverage like seduction…until love takes a bite of his plans.

As the Indiana Jones of historical erotica, there is no document existing—or just rumored to exist—Adin Tredeger can’t unearth. Why he would risk the biggest coup of his career to join the mile-high club is beyond him. But the disarming, dark-eyed man who somehow enters Adin’s locked airplane washroom has him completely nude and coming apart. All without a whimper of protest.

From that moment, Adin and Donte Fedelta engage in an international battle of wit and cunning. The prize—a priceless, 500-year-old journal with illustrations so erotic it could make the Marquis de Sade blush.

Yet Donte’s desire for the journal goes far beyond simple possession. The undead nobleman wrote it. And he’s not above using every trick in his otherworldly arsenal—including seduction—to get it back.

Chemistry draws them together even as fortune tugs them apart. But when a third party joins the chase, they must unite to fight an enemy with a deadly goal—to erase Donte from history.

This book is a rerelease of a previously published book, with substantial rewrites.

Maxfield started writing in 2007 on a dare from her children and never looked back.  Pathologically disorganized, and perennially optimistic, she writes as much as she can, reads as much as she dares, and enjoys her time with family and friends. Three things reverberate throughout all her stories: Unconditional love, redemption, and the belief that miracles happen when we least expect them.

If anyone asks her how a wife and mother of four can find time for a writing career, she’ll answer, “It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you give up housework.”

For The Bite Of It by Viki Lyn & Vina Grey: Excerpt + Giveaway

Blogger_Giveaway

Viki & Vina: Occasionally, we get a chance for a do-over. We published this book in 2011, and Vince and John’s story caught the readers’ imagination just as it did ours. But our readers wanted a more definitive ending to their love story. We spent many hours discussing this–we tossed ideas back and forth, we argued, we rolled our eyes, made many false starts, and finally came to consensus. In this extended version of the book, you will find a last chapter that adds details on the status of Vince and John’s relationship, and sets up their journey for subsequent books. The boys are in the serious business of finding a ‘happy ever after’.

Enjoy!
 Happy Reading!
And do tell us how you liked the book or post a review on Amazon.

For the Bite of It will be available FREE on Amazon for April 3rd & April 4th!

An Excerpt from For The Bite Of It

by Viki Lyn & Vina Grey

Chapter One

The front half of a silver sedan decorated his bakery, its nose nudging the counter, glass shards peppering the floor like confetti. Except Vincent Kamateros wasn’t celebrating. Didn’t have much to celebrate, really.

He stepped around the vehicle, and glass crunched under his clogs despite his walking-on-hot-coals strut. The car had nose-dived into his store about an hour ago. His landlord, Mr. Sala, slumped between his seat and air bag. Dead. If it wasn’t so serious, the situation could have been a scene from a cure-for-insomnia B grade movie you watched at three in the morning.

“Sir, the crime scene is off limits.”

He took out his irritation on the unfortunate crime scene tech, pinning the man with his gaze. “The entire bakery cannot be a crime scene, surely?” Fine for them to tape off the scene, but he wasn’t leaving his shop.

“I’m sorry, sir. I’ll get my supervisor.” The young fellow scampered away.

Ah good, so he could still intimidate with a look. All was perhaps not lost. Except his life as he had known it and his powers. Madre de dios. Enough with this maudlin mood.

Vince pressed his thumbs to his eyes. These humans made him jumpy. Eight weeks without warm, flowing blood had left him as nervous as a caged bird with a cat tapping on the bars.

“Sir, you need to step back.” One of Tempe’s best in a navy uniform held out his hand to stop Vince. The place crawled with them.

He intimidated the human with a forceful glare but a voice from behind distracted him.

“Excuse me, are you the owner?”

The deep tone made him think of fire lit nights and warm sheepskin rugs and bodies twined in lust. Surely, lack of blood would not lead to such a reaction to a male voice. He turned.

Ah, yes. Fire, rug, desire – emotions evoked by a voice and the physical appearance of the man before him. He took in the man from his broad shoulders to his polished loafers. He couldn’t help it. Dark sleek pants hugged muscled thighs. A blue polo shirt outlined shoulders embodying the clichéd mile. That cock-sure stance, feet apart, slightly on his toes. This man would tempt a saint buried twenty-feet under.

He pursed his lips to hold back a smirk as the man stepped away from Vince’s scrutiny. Though Vince had to give him credit for not backing off the stare-down.

“Yes, this is my bakery.” Vince scrutinized the man’s body again. A tingle behind his eyes warned him to curb his lust before his eyes changed color. It had been decades since he’d had such a gut reaction to a man. He blinked and mentally willed away his innate response to such a strong emotion.

“I’m Detective Reeder, this is Detective Norman.” The detective indicated a redheaded woman beside him with a flip of his hand. “We need to ask you some questions.”

He blinked at the ID thrust under his nose – J. Reeder. What did the J stand for? Something typifying the boy next store with his clean-cut looks – Jake, John, Joe?

“Sure. Er…where do you want me?” His brain couldn’t swing a more polished response.

Say here, right now, on your knees.

He really had to do something about his abstinence. Maybe, in a less blood-deprived state, this unexpected All-American male wouldn’t tempt him.

“Let’s get out of this mess.” Detective Reeder pivoted on one heel and walked away. Not for a bag of fresh blood could Vince have stopped his eyes from darting down

again. The front view had set up the back one perfectly – a begging-to-be-held ass.

The detective glanced over his shoulder. “Unless you want to come back to the station.”

Vince shook his head. This man brought back memories of the thrill of the chase, the enticing two-step when attraction first hit.

“Outside is fine.” His more lustful thoughts came to a halt when he passed the shattered window. The damage to his shop caused a pang in his heart. Who knew when he’d been talked into buying a cupcake bakery he would become so proprietary? Life sure took the strangest twists and turns.
