Release Blitz: One Step Back by Edie Danford + Excerpt & Giveaway!

One Step Back by Edie Danford

When you fall for a guy who’s about to become your stepbrother—do you listen to your heart and risk everything? Or listen to your head…and take one step back?

In high school I had a hundred reasons to steer clear of my soon-to-be-stepbrother, Joe Beneventi. He was a hothead, and I was reserved. His life was football, mine was academics. He wanted to be out and proud, and I desperately needed to keep my orientation secret.

But when we fell in love, my heart took the wheel, and I took every risk to be with Joe. Then one horrible night our secrets shattered. Joe disappeared—wrecking our families and breaking my heart.

Eleven years later, I landed a challenging job at a premier PR firm. And the hotshot publicist who’s been assigned to my first big account? Yep. It’s Joe.

Fate truly hates me because now Joe and I have three days to hole up in a Chicago hotel room and nail down a deal that could make or break our careers. He keeps distracting me, but I’m too jaded to fall for sexy smiles, bedroom eyes, and his impossible-to-ignore body. Except…

I like being close to him again. A little too much. Working together 24/7 is showing me sides of Joe I’ve never seen before.

And when we touch, being together seems like the only step worth taking.

Commitment Collection by Karen Botha: Exclusive Excerpt!

Exclusive Excerpt from Commitment Collection

by Karen Botha

“I’m pumped. I’ve been waiting for this day for months. New car, new starting procedures, new race rules. Yes, the simulator is a fabulous asset, but there’s no rehearsal like the real thing. And today is the day.

I trust my team which helps my confidence in the car’s safety. That means I can discard any nerves and allow my adrenaline to feed into the excitement which will drive me to reestablish myself as the top driver in this sport again. Psychologically, it helps if word gets out among the other drivers that I’m killing it on the track, so I’m psyched for today.

“Who’s that?” I ask through the team radio in my helmet. “The new guy with the tire?”

“He’s Kyle Beaumont. He’s a fresh recruit and excellent. Don’t worry,” James replies.”

“I’m anything but worried. Taller than me and broad, this guy lifts the wheel like it’s made of a lightweight foam. Jeez, even the guy’s jaw is strong. I linger a moment on his wide set shoulders and his firm neck. They’re adorable. His dark hair is shaved close to his head, so he has no protection from the sun. He scrunches his eyes against the bright light streaming into the garage. I bite my lip and I’m thankful no one can see under my helmet.”

“I can’t stop thinking about the guy as we run through pit stop after pit stop. When our eyes locked, the world slowed and another meaningless second shifted into a hot fury of passion. I watch in the mirrors as he slides a quick succession of tires onto empty wheel nuts without an ounce of first day nerves. His work is perfection. He’s perfection.

“Well done.” James pats me on the back as I hop out. Practice is over and it being the first day back, I’m pumped but know I’ll crash later. I need to do something to keep my spirits high.

“Thanks. Can I see Kyle in my trailer when they finish up here?”

“Sure?” James eyes me.

“Yeah, I’d like to get to know him. My life will rest partly in his hands, after all.” I grin so James knows I’m teasing although the jibe is fact. He slaps me on the back and doesn’t say a word as he walks off, leaving me to my thoughts.”

Savor Me by Beth Bolden: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from Savor Me

by Beth Bolden

As the cold water hit him, Xander yelped, throwing his hands up. “I take it back, I take it back,” Xander said, moving out of the way to try to dodge the spray after that first, frozen moment. Damon might have been worried, but he was laughing so hard it was hard for him to avoid the stream of water from the hose.

“I thought you were hot,” Damon teased.

Xander slipped on a patch of muddy ground, and nearly lost his balance, but his recovery was excellent. He moved with the grace of an athlete—or a dancer—and Damon never wanted to stop watching.

He only realized too late that Xander wasn’t just trying to move out of the way of the water. He was actively moving toward where Damon had plugged in one of his sprinklers. He leaned down for a second, his wet running shorts plastered to his ass like a second skin, and Damon lost track of what it was he was supposed to be avoiding. That incredible butt, toned and shapely and essentially begging for Damon to do terrible, wonderful things to it?

A cold spray of water to the face from the hose Xander had unhooked from the sprinkler had him gasping, but his thoughts hadn’t gotten any cleaner.

“You’re playing dirty,” Damon gasped through another burst of water to the face. He wasn’t going to tell Xander this, but it felt damn good after sweating all day.

Xander’s eyes narrowed, a bright smile blooming across his handsome face. “You love it,” he shot back.

He really did, and he never wanted Xander to stop. He loved every sneaky part of him, every achingly blunt part of his personality. Damon wanted it all, if only Xander would let him.

Damon turned the hose on himself, water cascading over his head. “I love this,” he teased. “But you could lean over again. Could use another firsthand bit of evidence to prove how much I love it.”

Following suit with his own, Xander turned his hose on himself, drenching every inch in water. His tank clung to every lean, muscular curve of his body, and Damon wanted to drop to his knees in the mud and beg.

I want to prove myself but I want to prove it to you first. Please let me touch you.

“Yeah,” Damon ground out, voice gruff and low, his erection growing despite the cold water he was pouring over himself, “yeah, I love that.”

Xander’s eyes sparkled with impudence as he sidled closer, letting Damon get a good look. He placed a cool palm on Damon’s bare chest, right where his heart beat hard and fast. “I love it too,” he said.

Take It All by Quin Perin: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from Take It All

by Quin Perin

Carter waited for him, perfectly nestled against the railing of the stairs, standing sideways. He’d stepped up a bit so that when Dave approached, he was an inch taller than him. When their eyes met, the young man gave his own boner a few rubs through his swimming trunks, showing off its outline. It was nice and thick, and it made Dave’s mouth water in anticipation. He wanted to see it. Wanted to wrap his large hand around it and stroke it properly, explore its curve, its girth, and length.

“Go on, son.” Dave looked up at Carter’s perfect profile. Those shoulders were to die for, and his biceps jumped slightly whenever he squeezed his dick. Carter didn’t move. He gazed down at Dave as though he was taking in his height, his size.

God, being looked at like that gave him chills.

Another step closer and Dave could already smell the sunscreen and the water on Carter’s tanned skin. He inhaled the boy’s scent and brought his hand up to graze his fingertips up his spine. Carter shuddered in response, lips slightly parted. Instead of pushing him to walk upstairs, Dave slid his hand up between Carter’s shoulder blades and then let his lips connect with the boy’s flexed arm. Swallowing audibly, Carter stilled the movement of his hand, curving into Dave’s rough, yet gentle touch.

The boy’s skin felt like warm silk. Eyes shuttered closed, Dave’s hand trailed up and down Carter’s back until he inched farther down to his butt. It was so plump, ready to be groped, and penetrated. He felt like bending him over the railing to admire him, to explore the heated flesh before ripping off the last piece of fabric separating them from one another.

Smack!

The sharp sound bounced off the walls as Dave slapped that perfect ass and watched it jiggle. Oh Lord, look at that. Carter hissed in a breath, the muscles of his stomach gaining definition, the familiar V shape protruding as he arched his back in response.

“Go upstairs.” This time, Dave’s tone left no room for playful disobedience.

Carter gave a soft moan and then followed the order while Dave watched him every step of the way. Ready to pounce, ready to devour him with his mouth and hands. Adrenaline buzzed through his veins, making his cock jerk inside its confines, precum dampening the front of his sweatpants.

Carter glanced over his shoulder before reaching the upper level. The dimples on his cheeks encouraged Dave to take two steps at a time. The young man chuckled, spun around and walked down the hallway, backward and barefoot, eyes on Dave who’d rushed upstairs.

It was like Carter had planned out every step he’d take.

Finally, those fingers slid across the bedroom door, shouldering it open. Dave followed suit, pushing past the threshold, eyes on the man who stumbled right into the room where he and his wife had slept together for almost two decades.

Well, that was over now.

Dave shoved the door shut and turned the lock—just in case. There were floor to ceiling windows opposite the king sized bed, facing the pool below and the well-manicured lawn that lay behind it. The fading sunlight made the boy’s skin glow. Carter cocked his head to one side, his thumb trailing along the waistband of his trunks as Dave approached. Nothing could stop him now.

SYN: Consulting by A.G. Carothers: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from SYN: Consulting

by A.G. Carothers

Matt couldn’t get enough of the way Xander tasted on his tongue. The mixture of his own musk with Xander’s natural taste was heady and intoxicating. Matt writhed under him, rubbing his whole body against Xander, letting their smells and tastes mix and merge into a fog that he wanted to drown in.

Xander seemed to forget his search for the lube as he held onto Matt tightly, sweat built between them merging them closer together. Matt needed more, needed to get closer, needed to have Xander inside of him. Taking up the search for the lube, he plunged his hand under the pillow and found it right away.

Matt stilled and pulled back slightly, handing the bottle over to Xander. Xander stopped and looked down into his eyes as he took it. Matt reached up and caressed Xander’s cheek as he suddenly grew serious. “No matter what happens, make sure you come back to me, yeah?” Matt’s voice was hushed, and he smiled to try to cover up the roughness his emotions created in it.

Xander lowered his head and kissed him so very softly that he almost didn’t feel it. “I love you, you know, and I wouldn’t even imagine not coming home to you.” Xander kissed his nose lightly and grinned at the huff Matt made when he swiped his tongue across it. “Don’t worry, Mathieu.” Xander continued, placing light kisses across his face and down his neck.

Ride or Dye by Aimee Nicole Walker: Exclusive Excerpt!

by Aimee Nicole Walker

“WHY ARE YOU FACETIMING me when you’re on vacation with your husband?” Mere asked me.

“I’m not FaceTiming you; I’m FaceTiming Tori,” I replied. “I swear she’s changed so much already.”

“You’ve only been gone for a few days, Jazz.”

“A lot can happen in a few days. She looks so beautiful in the little floral dress and baby pink cardigan we bought her. Kiss her for me.”

“I will.”

“Do it now.” I inhaled a deep breath like I could smell her lavender lotion and shampoo. “I want to watch.”

“You need help,” Mere said.

“This is news?” Gabe asked Mere when he joined me on the couch in our suite. He looked over at me and said, “I was concerned about what you were instructing someone to do so you could watch.”

“Yeah, because you’ve caught me interacting with live webcam shows so many times.”

“I thought maybe you got bored with me since my surprise outing was canceled due to the rain and went looking for some entertainment.”

I saw in his eyes how disappointed he was that his plans were ruined, but I wasn’t. Discreetly making love with Gabe on our private balcony while the rain poured from the sky was the sexiest thing I’d ever done. The balcony had a roof on it, but the rain came in at the perfect angle to drench us good. “Best. Date. Ever.”

“Um, guys,” Mere said then giggled. “How about you call back after you’ve worked each other out of your system.”

“That will never happen,” Gabe and I said at the same time.

“All the same, Queen V is waking up and searching out her next meal. I know you’re both enlightened gentlemen and all, but breastfeeding on FaceTime isn’t my idea of a fun time.”

“Fine, but I want to be sure you’re giving Tori the kisses I’ve sent her each day. I’ll wait.”

Mere giggled and placed a lingering kiss on Tori’s forehead. “That kiss is from your uncles, Josh and Gabe. They love you so much.”

“Bye, Mere and Tori. We’ll chat later.”

Mere blew me an air kiss before she disconnected. I leaned into Gabe, and he put his arm around me. “We’ve video chatted with our kids and Mere. Chaz is up to his armpits in edits, so I will only receive short replies from him until he meets his deadline.”

The Hunt by J.M. Dabney & Davidson King: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from The Hunt

byJ .M. Dabney & Davidson King

After Ray left I found myself in desperate need to keep myself busy. My mind was my own worst enemy. Why would I think Ray would want to have sex with me? Kissing was one thing, but to see me naked? I couldn’t blame him for backing off.

Growing up kids at school called me In-The-Way-Shay because I was always so knobby and knocked things over. My mom told me I often reminded her of a giraffe. While that may not seem like an insult, it was.

Under Ray’s kitchen sink I was surprised not only to actually find cleaning supplies, but they were unopened. He was either the laziest, slobbiest person ever or he really was never here.

There weren’t any dishes in the sink, so I went about spraying down the counters, sink, all the appliances. When I was happy that the sheen of dust was gone, I went to working on the floors. While I cleaned, my mind raced to scenarios. Ray was nice, he didn’t outright say I wasn’t his type or that he thought I was weird. But I knew. Guys who fucked me did it in the back of clubs and with the lights off. Men like Ray never even looked at me twice. I wasn’t as beautiful as Francis was, but I wasn’t so ugly no one touched me. There was just that moment right after orgasm the other guy looked disgusted.

I don’t know why I flirted. Ugh! The more upset I got with myself the cleaner Ray’s house got. The musty, stagnant odor that once filled the air was replaced with lemon and lavender.

I meant it when I said I trusted Ray, I did. There was an honesty to him, a gritty, raw honesty. He kept people safe. It didn’t matter he said his past was shady. Who he was now was a good person. I was so conflicted.

I was in the room Ray assigned me tucking in the clean sheets when I heard the front door.

“Andy?” Ray shouted.

I didn’t answer, just went toward him. As I got closer, I heard him mumbling.

“Did he polish the legs of the couch, too? Jesus, I didn’t know that was a black entertainment system, I thought it was brown.”

“I was just as shocked,” I said smiling, when he jumped at the sound of my voice.

He turned and the expression on his face had me laughing. He just stared at me, but after a few seconds he chuckled.

“You didn’t have to do this, Andy.” He walked past me and placed a couple bags on the clean table. “Wow, in here, too?”

“I really did have to, Ray. It’s healthier this way and it smells good.” I sniffed dramatically earning another chuckle.

“I just have a couple more bags in the car, I’ll be right back.”

I began unpacking the bags while Ray brought the others in. He had a lot of pasta, two steaks, hot dogs, burger patties, basically bachelor food. If it wasn’t for Augustine’s, I would never have learned how to cook. There were a few things missing from some recipes I knew, but maybe I could make this work.

Honorary Bloggers K. Evan Coles & Brigham Vaughn: Food Talk + Excerpt & Giveaway!

Honorary_Blogger_Post

Food Talk

by K. Evan Coles & Brigham Vaughn

As we discussed topics for this this blog post, the conversation got derailed (as it often does) by talk of food. First K. Evan mentioned that she was making overnight oats. This segued into Brigham’s dinner plans of turkey burgers with curried mayo and garam masala roasted potato wedges. From there it went into a discussion about what Brigham should do with a bunch of milk that needed to be used up before it went bad. Homemade ricotta cheese and pumpkin rice pudding were discussed and recipes researched. We debated the merits of bubble tea, tapioca pudding, and Champorado, a Filipino rice porridge made with cocoa powder and coconut milk.

We have conversations like this often, both for IRL purposes and for character writing. In the end, we realized we might as well write a blog post about food, one of our mutual loves. After all, clearly our minds were on the topic, so why not focus on something that we clearly spend a lot of time talking about.

K. Evan calls herself a “super food fan” and Brigham is a self-described foodie. Both of us enjoy both cooking and baking as well as eating, and especially sharing the food we make with others. Our newsletter even has a section for recipe sharing. We wholeheartedly enjoy others doing the cooking, too, especially foods we’re not easily able to make ourselves. To us, food is just all sorts of fun.

We’ve had to research a different genre of recipes for “The Speakeasy” books, namely cocktails and mocktails. The characters in the books frequent an uptown speakeasy in Manhattan called Under, and the bar becomes a sanctuary of sorts for a growing circle of friends to connect and share their experiences. Under serves as both hang out and haven for the characters, and the drinks served there and throughout the plots are as varied as their personalities.

Some of our characters want something fabulous with four liquor and a fancy garnish, like the Lita Grey Cocktail. Others crave a more straightforward kind of drink, like the Cuba Libre or a great Scotch served neat. We also write characters who abstain from alcohol and some who drink sparingly to avoid medication interactions. For them we’ve become acquainted with lots of gorgeous mocktails and infused waters, many of which have migrated into our personal lives (neither of us finds writing while imbibing actual alcoholic cocktails to be particularly productive).

To be sure, our books contain references to food, too. Our characters cook with and for each other, and some do a little more teaching if they find their partner in crime is best known for burning water. The characters definitely dine, too, and enjoy sharing meals in groups. Some of the characters are even willing to set their differences with friends and family aside—at least for a little while—when it comes time to cozy up to the table for some good food and conversation.

Food is so often a universal language that brings people together and helps them connect. The connections in our books might occur over a boisterous dinner featuring a big group eating homemade Guinness beef stew, but they might also happen in a more intimate setting, like an impromptu picnic of cookies and beer for two on someone’s half made bed.

We can go a little overboard with the descriptions, which we suspect occurs if we’ve been writing while hungry. As our beta readers go through a book, they often make suggestions to trim a section that involves food or remove some of the details of a meal the characters are eating. We writers then typically debate the comments at length before we cut anything out. Because food.

We know there are readers out there who are much less interested in every last detail of the food and drinks the characters enjoy, so we want to keep it balanced. Setting the scene is important, but we also want the scenes to help develop the characters and move the plot forward. In the end, we want to tell a really great story, and we do our best to determine how many words we spend on everything in it.

Incidentally, we have plans for a book about a chef in the near future. Our tendencies to go cheerfully overboard with the food talk may come in handy then!

Release Blitz: Ryker by RJ Scott & V.L. Locey + Excerpt & Giveaway!

Ryker by RJ Scott & V.L. Locey

Ryker is hockey royalty, Jacob is a poor country boy. Can two vastly different people find common ground and become the men they want to be?

Ryker comes from a long line of championship-winning hockey players. Playing college hockey to develop his game is his only focus, and nothing will stand in the way of him working to become the best player. He has no room for relationships, people that point out his flaws, or anyone who calls him on his dreams. He certainly has no place for love, and meeting Jacob is nothing but a useful distraction on the side. After all trying to get his Owatonna Eagles teammate into bed is less work and more play. When tragedy rocks his family, his charmed life crumbles, and the only person he can turn to is the same one who claims to hate him.

Jacob Benson has only known hard work and stifling conservative values his whole life. Born and raised in the small rural community of Eden Crossing, Minnesota, he’s the only son of a hard-working but struggling dairy farming family. Jacob is using his skills in hockey to finance his way to an agricultural science degree. These four years at Owatonna U. will probably be the only time he has to enjoy life, gain acceptance about his sexuality, and live openly before his inevitable return to the farm. Running into a pretty rich boy like Ryker Madsen is putting a damper on his enjoyment of life away from home. Ryker’s flip, conceited, carefree attitude grates on Jacob’s every nerve. So why, if Ryker is everything he dislikes, does he want nothing more than to explore the sinful dreams that his annoying teammate stars in every night?
