Blurb: When it came to defense, or offense when needed, Cullen McIntyre thought he was prepared. It wasn’t until he watched as monsters he’d never knew existed walked out of thin air to kill members of his family, twice, that Cullen realized how wrong he’d been. By the third time he’d come face to face with those determined to kill him and the rest of his family for doing their duty, Cullen knew he needed help, and lots of it.

The moment Ulf laid eyes on Cullen, he’d been enthralled by the man’s resolve to protect what was left of his family. Being shot and left for dead by Cullen should have cooled his desire for the fiery man, but it only made him want him more. By the time he caught up to Cullen, Ulf knew, without a doubt, the druid was destined to be his. Now he just needed to convince Cullen of that.

As Cullen and Ulf join their friends to fight the monsters from the realm of the Fae, they find there is a new threat waiting to get through the Veil. A threat they might not be able to defeat. Will Ulf & Cullen get their chance at happily ever after, or will the Fae finally succeed in their quest to destroy the veil?

Honorary Blogger Rhys Ford: Pho Bo Kho Recipe + Giveaway!

Honorary_Blogger_Post

Pho Bo Kho

by Rhys Ford

Hi! I am Rhys Ford and I would like to welcome you to this stop on the Ramen Assassin Blog Tour!

I am looking forward to introducing you a new series as well as two very fun characters I enjoyed writing, Kuro Jenkins and Trey Bishop. The first book, Ramen Assassin, came to me as a nebulous idea but then really pushed into the forefront of my brain while I was beginning to write Hellion, the third book in the 415 Ink series. Unfortunately, I scared TA Moore with a very bad habit of mine called staring into space while thinking. I was contemplating the ins and outs of a series called Ramen Assassin and she took my crazed, unfocused look as the possibility of a spider of the wall behind her.

There was no spider. But what did come out of it was a murder mystery about a former government operative turned ramen chef and the recovering drug addict, former child star he saves from certain death and eventually falls in love with.

This book allowed me to combine two things I love — killing people and cooking. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. On this blog tour, I’m going to be sharing a few of my favorite dishes as well as a how to throw together ramen with what you have in your pantry and refrigerator. Please be sure to hit up every single stop on the blog tour for a different recipe at each stop as well as that blog’s giveaway!

Be sure to enter to win a twenty dollar gift certificate from Dreamspinnerpress.com! One for every stop!

And now, onto the food…

But now, on his twenty-first birthday, running wasn’t an option. He had no where to go. It was time for him to face his worst nightmare.

There weren’t many people who could do what Bjorn did. Fight monsters and live to tell the tale. It was a job thrust upon him as a kid. If he had known the true hell that would be cursed upon him, he would have preferred to die even though he’d only been fourteen at the time. Now, years later, he had hope that the curse would come to an end. The question was, would he choose the death he’d so desperately craved for more than a millennia, or would he do the one thing he swore he’d never do? Choose love.

If Kegan and Bjorn can find a way past their fears, they may discover something worth living for – each other.

This is a stand alone with an HEA, but reading the first book is recommended for full enjoyment.

Impossible Things by Beth Bolden: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from Impossible Things

by Beth Bolden

When the carousel ride completed, and Diego carried Ana over to where Abby and Benji waited for them, he shot the latter a huge smile. “I’m so glad you came with us,” Diego confided as Benji handed him his cup. “You made today special.”

Benji shrugged a little self-consciously. “You could’ve made the same phone call and gotten the exact same results.”

“I don’t mean Abby, and not waiting in any lines, though that is nice,” Diego said. “I mean that it wouldn’t have been as special if you weren’t with us.”

Benji nearly pulled up short as they approached Dumbo and its insane line, creeping all the way around the ride and threatening to spill into the walkways around it. “You . . . you really mean that, don’t you?” he asked, clearly surprised.

It was hard not to feel a twinge of guilt at the shock in Benji’s voice. “You’ve always been an important part of our lives, but . . . now, more than ever, we want you here, with us.”

Benji reached out and squeezed Diego’s shoulder. His gaze told Diego that he wanted so much more. He wanted to lean down and casually kiss him, like it was something they already did a dozen times each day. He wanted to hold hands, without it catching the attention of every single harried parent in this line.

Diego could have changed the famous line, “with great power comes great responsibility,” to “with great power comes great obligation,” and it would have still been completely accurate. He’d never felt the obligation of his fame as strongly as he did in this moment. Before, he’d felt it for others, specifically Leo and Caleb, but never for himself. It had never truly gotten in the way of anything he’d ever wanted—instead it had made a lot of things easier. Money made even the bitterest pill easier to swallow.

But money couldn’t fix this problem. No matter how much money they had, Benji couldn’t confiscate every single phone in this park. He’d seen the occasional interested face, and more than one quick flash in his direction. Pictures would exist of his trip here today with Ana, and while it was terrible enough that they were taking pictures of his kid, he couldn’t risk him and Benji looking like anything more than good friends.

“You excited for Dumbo, Ana?” Benji asked her as Diego picked her up and carried her the last bit of the way to the ride. She was good on her feet, with sturdy legs that usually would carry her farther and faster than Diego ever wanted to go, but it had been a long day already and he could tell she was getting tired.

But Ana, instead of answering with increasing excitement, promptly burst into tears.

Instantly, Diego stopped and leaned against an empty stretch of low wrought-iron fencing. Shifting Ana in his arms, he gave her a soft smile. “Ana Banana, what’s wrong?”

“Saaaaaaad,” Ana wailed.

Diego exchanged blank, confused looks with Abby over Ana’s head, but then Benji was suddenly there, putting a big palm on her narrow back, and gently transferring over to his own arms.

“It is a sad movie,” Benji cooed at her, and she calmed from sobbing hysterics to only a trickle of tears. “But Dumbo is happy at the end, right?”

“Dumbo sad!” Ana exclaimed again, and for a moment, as everyone in their group held their breath, she looked to be on the precipice of a second outburst.

“Sometimes you’re sad so you know what being happy is, Ana-girl,” Benji said softly, seriously.

“Happy,” she parroted back, a puzzled look on her sweet face.

“Yeah,” Benji said, hugging her close, “we’re happy right now.”

“I guess that’s a no on Dumbo,” Diego said.

“Actually, I think she should ride it. She’d like it, and it might give her a different perspective,” Benji offered.

Diego rolled his eyes. “Sure thing. You want to ride it with her, then, Mr. Child Psychologist?”

Benji grinned. “I’d love to.”

Abby and Diego watched from a little distance as Benji carried Ana over to the ride.

“He’s very sweet with her,” Abby offered, kindness tempering the crisp edges of his accented words. “You’re very lucky to find someone who loves your kid as much as you do.”

Diego opened his mouth and then snapped it shut again. What could he say? No, you’re wrong? We’re not involved, and I’m not lucky? All Abby would have to say was, have you seen that guy? He’s ripped and gorgeous and adores your child—and you.

Abby shot him a sideways glance. “We all sign NDAs, by the way, if that matters.”

Diego wanted to be at a place in their lives where that didn’t matter, but he knew better.

“It does, actually,” Diego said with a reluctant sigh. “This is all very new, and well . . . you’ve surely seen the circus around Leo and Caleb. I’m not sure I’m ready to subject Ana to all that.”

“Well, as one queer man to another, it’s pretty damn cool regardless.” Abby grinned. “It meant a lot, that interview you guys did.”

NOX by Adrienne Wilder: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from NOX

by Adrienne Wilder

The neighbor’s dog wouldn’t stop barking.

Outside the kitchen window, Mr. Oak’s Border Collie was nothing more than a flash of black and white as he circled the barn at the edge of the pasture.

Luca rinsed the glass under the flow of water and set it in the drying rack beside the sink with the rest of the dinner dishes.

A line of dark clouds stained the horizon, washing out the sunset. Wind tossed up a cloud of dirt to dance around the dog.

He continued to bark.

Luca pressed his fingers to his temple. With every burst of sound, a dull throb beat behind his eyes.

How many times had Luca hauled the animal back to his owner’s house a half-mile down the road this week? At least five, and it was only Wednesday.

“Damn it, Buster, I’m not in the mood for this.” Luca took the length of rope off the peg near the door. His muscles protested the climb down the small flight of steps from the back porch, and the constant fatigue plaguing him gnawed deeper.

He headed down the hill, thick blades of fescue grabbing at his legs left green streaks across his jeans. Despite the warm temperatures, the air kissed his skin with a chill.

The dog crouched, moving right to left a few yards outside the barn.

Luca whistled.

The Border Collie looked up, tongue flopping out the side of his mouth.

Luca unrolled the rope. “Here, let’s get you home.” He reached for the dog’s collar. Buster snapped his jaws, and Luca jerked his hand back. “Whoa, what the hell’s gotten into you?” Normally the dog was more than willing to go for a car ride. Half the time, Luca didn’t need the leash.

Buster lowered to his belly, exhaling in rapid breaths. He whined while he stared into shadows cast by the wooden slat walls. Luca stepped closer to the barn.

A deep growl rumbled in Buster’s chest.

Whatever he heard was either out of Luca’s range of hearing or drowned out by the thump of his heart. He paused at the threshold until his eyes adjusted to the lack of light.

His parents had gotten rid of the horses after his brother Koda was killed. Luca had resented them for a while. When recovering from his second battle with leukemia, watching the horses from his bedroom window had been his escape. Faced with final go-round, he was thankful he wouldn’t have to worry about them when he went into hospice.

Buster stepped inside. Hackles raised over the dog’s shoulders, running in a line down his back.

Luca picked up a shovel hanging from a nail just at the entrance. If whatever spooked the dog was bigger than a raccoon, Luca doubted it would do much good. At least there weren’t bears in this part of the country. At least he’d never seen one. He hoped this was not the day he did.

Luca inched his way into the barn.

He bumped open the first stall door with his elbow. Mounds of rotting hay edged the walls where it hadn’t caught in the craters dug by hooves pawing at the ground.

The door on the second stall was reluctant to open thanks to the rust binding the hinges. Sticky strands of spider webs caught Luca’s fingers. He grimaced and scrubbed them off on his shirt. Again, nothing but shadows.

He inched past two more stalls where night filled the space between the dividers. More straw and dirt, and the heady scent of animals long gone.

The last door belonged to the storage area where they’d kept tack and feed.

With each hesitant shuffle forward, Luca’s tennis shoes left ruts in the dirt. He reached the last enclosure. Sweat burned his eyes. He licked his dry lips. Buster’s quick breaths were the only sound in the barn aside from Luca’s pulse racing in his ears.
