Cover Reveal: Shake The Stars by V.L. Locey + Giveaway!

Shake The Stars

by V.L. Locey

Spending time in the Poconos with his family was the last thing Dane Forrester wanted to do over the summer. He had dreams of spending his last break touring Europe and gathering story ideas for his upcoming creative writing classes before heading to college. Maybe even finding that elusive first love in a small café in Paris, or along the Rhine, or even in a sultry villa in Italy. But no, he was stuck at the Silver Fir Lodge with his family where his dreams of romance and passion would wither and die a slow painful death, or so he imagined.

When all seemed lost, the budding wordsmith is saved—in more than one sense—by Khalid Novak, a lifeguard at the lodge’s pool. Khalid is two years older, a bit more sophisticated, and the most incredibly alluring thing Dane has ever seen. The two young men find themselves joyously wound in a searing romance that teaches Dane that love can be wildly intense yet fleeting so one should revel in it when the discovery is made.

Can this summer romance survive the chill of autumn as well as the winds of time?

Between Bloody Lips by Sai Fox: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from Between Bloody Lips

by Sai Fox

Memories were always something that had fascinated Gabriel.

There was something special about the way a human’s mind worked, how it was able to recall information from so long before. He’d read somewhere, in some article on some throwaway day that no longer mattered, that the mind wasn’t able to recall memories with perfect detail.

No; memory was less like a photograph and more like a Pablo Picasso in its mix of color and shapes. It was more like a Salvador Dali in how the edges of dreams and reality bled into each other to create its own unique picture, its own unique self.

Nothing was quite reality.

Nothing was quite fantasy.

Nothing was quite—

Perfect.

Maybe, just maybe, that was how Gabriel knew that this was a dream rather than a memory.

It was just…

Perfect.

Too perfect.

It was such a beautiful morning; the sun shined through the pale blue curtains over his window, the creamy white paint on the walls giving a soft, alluring glow to the room. There was a spider web stretched across the lower-left corner of the windowsill, the tattered edges blowing in a soft breeze that Gabriel could feel against the hairs on his arms.

His mind, idle and in that sweet place between wakefulness and the dead of sleep, couldn’t help but wonder: where was the spider? Where was it hiding?

Why was it hiding?

Something soft and niggling in the back of his mind tried to push the thought away. It didn’t matter. It didn’t exist, as far as Gabriel was concerned. After all, why would there be a spider in such a beautiful place, in such a beautiful dream?”

“Gabriel turned his attention away from the window and to the oak nightstand painted with little, pale pink flowers at the corners, a vase of freshly-cut daisies casting a shadow across the table.

They smelled like his childhood. They were the ones his mother had always kept right there on the bedside at their little beach house, their little getaway. She had undoubtedly gotten them that morning from the garden just outside his bedroom window.

She didn’t get them from anywhere. This is a dream. This is nothing but a dream.

Cold Light by Michelle Frost: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from Cold Light

by Michelle Frost

Morning sunlight glinted off the bulletproof back glass of Mr. Harry Low’s town car. His driver would stop the car at exactly twelve past eight in front of the headquarters for Low International, and exactly thirty seconds later, two-armed security guards would approach the car before escorting Mr. Low inside.

Ten seconds—that’s all the window Lex had. Five of those would be waiting for the bullet to get there. He’d been laying in this exact spot over a mile away each morning for a week. Calculating the wind, the distance, how the bullet would drop. The butt of his rifle was settled against his shoulder with the rest of his body spread out behind it prone on a tarp. Out of a million ways to kill a man, this was his favorite. He’d learned to shoot early. He didn’t know if that was typical for kids with parents in a MC, but it was for the President of the Sand Lake Iron Heretics’ son. His father was tough and sharp, and always pushing Lex to improve the skills that would make him an asset to the club. Even after his father discovered he was gay.

Still, the skills he’d been pushed to learn had proved useful. When the club fell into debt with a man that kept contract killers on his payroll, Lex’s skills were what settled the balance. An eight-year contract to kill for Rick Morgan, splitting the paycheck fifty-fifty. Rick kept half and Lex kept half while still paying his dues to the club. Everyone was happy.

There were only a handful of people on the planet that could take the shot he was about to with any certainty that they’d hit their mark. Not only was he certain, but he was banking on it. This shot was the money shot. The last punch in his time card. After this kill, his contract with Rick was over and he’d have a chance to live a life that didn’t include so much blood on his hands. Not that he minded the blood. It washed just like everything else. But he’d been away from the club too long, and yearned for an open road and a vest on his back. When he’d turned eighteen, he hadn’t received the ink like a typical full-patch so if he were captured, his club ties would remain unknown. No one outside of Rick knew who he really was. Not even Arden.

The thought of his lover sent a tug of longing through him. It’d been too long since he’d seen his boy; felt the soft slide of his skin or gripped the strands of his blond hair. Thoughts of their next meeting tore him in half as he contemplated how he could possibly keep Arden and the MC, too. Returning home would be both a blessing and a curse.

Movement down the sight of his scope drew him back to the task at hand. Two guards, like clockwork, walked to the rear passenger door of the dark sedan as it idled. One took a protective position, standing with his back facing Lex’s direction, blocking the view of the car’s door while the other man reached to pull it open. One foot then two hit the pavement and Mr. Low was up and out of the car, sandwiched between his behemoth guards.

This was it. He breathed in and out, slow and easy, finger moving from its idle position resting against the body of the rifle to land lightly on the trigger. Lex licked his lips and just before they reached the building when one guard would lean in to open the door, he squeezed. The rifle discharged like the well-oiled machine it was, rocking back against Lex’s shoulder.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

The bullet caught Mr. Low just above the ear and the top half of his head exploded in a shower of blood, brain matter, and bone. Pulling his eye from the scope, Lex ejected the bullet casing. It hit the tarp with a thunk, the smell of gunpowder strong in the air. Methodically, he dismantled his weapon, taking it apart piece by piece with practiced ease. Once the pieces were stowed in their case, he carefully folded the tarp, ensuring that his brass was collected and placed everything in his backpack before sliding his arms through both straps and starting on his pre-planned route out of the hills.

They might find that spot, but they’d find no trace of Lex. He was a ghost, a wraith, a phantom, and would be gone before Mr. Low’s blood dried on the concrete.

Prescription for Love by Aimee Nicole Walker: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Exclusive Excerpt from Prescription for Love

by Aimee Nicole Walker

“Are you going to walk me to the door like a gentleman?” I asked when Tucker pulled into my driveway and parked behind my car.

“I’m not feeling all that gentlemanly right now.” Tucker’s guard was completely down when he turned and looked at me. I saw his naked need and desire. “I will walk you through your door and press you against the foyer wall and—”

“Okay,” I said, releasing my seatbelt and opening the passenger door without waiting for a response. I didn’t wait for him to escort me to the door, but I’d only taken a few steps before I heard Tuck’s door open and shut. His footfalls were steady as he followed me, but I was willing to bet his heart was racing as quickly as mine.

My hands shook when I tried to unlock the door, and I dropped my keychain on the porch. I bent at the waist to pick it up just as Trent placed his big hands on my hips and pressed his groin to my ass. A pitiful whimper escaped through my parted lips.

“I warned you I wasn’t feeling gentlemanly,” Tuck said darkly.

I scooped my keys off the porch and straightened before my neighbors witnessed our bump and grind, but I pushed my groin tighter against the growing bulge in Tuck’s pants instead of putting space between us.

“Unlock the door, Doc.”

By Way of Pain by J.M. Dabney: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Blogger_Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from By Way of Pain

by J.M. Dabney

A deadly calm seemed to come over my captor as the leather slithered through the man’s slim, elegant hands that were encased in tight black leather. “Remove the blanket, stand and return to the support in the center of the room.”

Every inch of my body shook as I did as he asked. The chill in the air had goosebumps rising and caused the hair to stand up on my arms. When I straightened, I used my hands to cover my crotch. Each step I took fought against my instinct to survive. He said he’d do away with me, and if he felt merciful, he’d make my death quick. As much as that should have terrified me, it brought me a sense of comfort that once he was done with me, he wouldn’t make me suffer.

I yelped and covered my eyes as the single, naked bulb burned bright.

“Face the support and grab the hook. Do not remove your hands from it at any time or you will earn an extra lash.”

My captor’s voice turned deeper, almost what I assumed a lover would sound like.

“What are you going to do with me?”

“I’m going to teach you, boy, that pain is pleasure. When I’m done, you will beg for each lash you receive in punishment.”

I arched my back as he drew the hilt of the whip down the indent of my spine and then I felt his breath fan my ear. “You have to embrace pain to truly appreciate pleasure. For some of us, they are one and the s

ame.”

That he believed what he was saying was scarier than the inevitability of my death.

My captor pressed his clothed form fully to my back. The man was lean, but I felt the power in those muscles, and I cried out as strong fingers winched my head back. I closed my eyes at the burning sting on my scalp. The rough support abraded my skin—only the cage on my cock protected the tender skin. My big, hairy body was too on display, and I didn’t want him to look at me.

Suddenly the heat and presence of him was gone, and the chilliness of the damp basement washed over me. I didn’t dare turn around. I didn’t want to see what was about to happen. I knew that was stupid. He was going to whip me and seeing would allow me to brace myself for the pain.

“Breathe, boy. I own every inch of you, and that includes your pain.”

As soon as the last syllable slipped from his tongue, I felt the fire of the first kiss of the whip. Strangely, I flinched more at the crack of the leather than I did the first strike. I moved to wrap my arms around the support, hugging it tight and pressing my sweaty brow to the splintered surface. Each strike of the whip made me writhe and beg. I wanted the pain to stop. I felt the first trickles of blood down my back. It was a tickling sensation as it flowed over my ass—the backs of my thighs.

It wasn’t as much as I’d assumed, as if just the tip of the whip grazed my back. The agony reached the point that a sort of numbness took over. The nerves had deadened under the exposure of overwhelming suffering. My vision was dimming at the edges, and my heart beat too fast, I cried out with each new lick of leather. I was posed on my tiptoes, and my thighs shook, I was on the edge of collapse.

I was granted a reprieve, and I screamed as his soft shirt felt like sandpaper on my abused back. “Good boy, you did better than I expected.” His voice sounded almost…caring, and that was so unlike the mental picture I’d formed of him. I gritted my teeth as he drew his palm from my shoulder

to hip. I was oversensitive and shoved myself harder into the beam.

“Easy, boy, you did so good. I’ve never seen someone so beautiful in the throes of their pain.” Continue reading
